Working on one of my cars. Had to order these snap in nuts to strap the gas tank back in. This is what arrived today.

Are they referring to if you swallow these you could get cancer?

The "P65" appears to relate to Proposition 65. More about that here:

In addition to swallowing, carcinogens can potentially enter the body by inhalation or skin contact. If these nuts are metal, it's hard to imagine what the possible problem might be. If it was me, I'd probably wash my hands after using them and worry no more about it.

/\ Don't make me rub your nose in that paint.

That’s California for you. Anything shipped to California has to have warning labels. I think the companies just do it for everything to avoid litigation.

So when you see a label on a packet that says;
"Warning! may contain nuts"
Now you know why.

And, the box says "Made in China"!

How toxic can it be if it's made in China? Look how overpopulated they are -- can't be hurting them any.:)

Prop65 is a bullshit law. I seriously doubt if any of the products that they claim is harmful is actually harmful to the average person using them in the correct way. Now, if you shoved those nuts up your ass for 2 or 3 years there is a very slight chance you might have problems. By the way, California also banned licorice.

These nuts just ended up under my car. The car is already 18 years old so I'm pretty sure they will remain there for the rest of the car's life. I'm pretty sure I'm safe from any cancerous effect there.

Probably something the nuts are coated with. Or the ink on the label. Or the box. Or what you had for lunch. Or just about everything else sold to consumers. And Trump hasn't even begun slashing regulations this term. All hope is lost. You might as well just eat them.

That's crazy to see something like that on package
