Do you keep a centerpiece on your dining room or kitchen table? What about your cocktail table?

Do you think a centerpiece is fussy, or girlie, or ostentatious?

I don't have anything on the dining room table. I have just salt and pepper on the kitchen table. There is a very large candle in the middle of the cocktail table. But I'm wishing for something new, different and original.

Any ideas?

We have a box of tissues.

- no not because of the picture.

I think centerpieces would be great only for special occasions though.. I mean if you have one every day, it loses its touch of elegance, no? Also I think an extravagant floral arrangement would be great or if you're serving a nice dinner arrange the food on the table to make the biggest, nicest, most mouth-watering thing you made as a centerpiece.. e.g a Turkey on Thanksgiving.. etc.

Can't find a picture online, but it's a rusted wrought iron "globe" with the arrow sticking up out of it at an angle. Like this, but it actually holds eight candles.

Ever changing! A bowl of fruit; a vase of flowers; sometimes I move my sculptures around and the biggest gets parked on the table.

A pile of books; an assortiment of candles.

My kitchen is much too small for a table.

There's usually a cat sitting in the middle of the tables.

It is what they do.

I have a hurricane lamp, a bowl of fruit, and some sort of unidentified potted flower. Sometimes a box of doughnuts.

Fake bowl of fruit, old ketchup and mustard packets (that I really need to throw out), bread, and packaged zebra cakes.

I have a big pillow on my coffee table I use to put my feet on when I'm watching TV or playing video games.

occasionally a centerpiece, maybe a bowl of fruit. must mostly the table is too covered with stuff to be bothered, it gets cleaned off usually for anough room for people to eat, and cleaned off completely if company is coming over.

In this house, if it's a flat surface, expect it to get piled up with stuff

^what he said. In the winter I have a large copper oil lantern in case I lose power from storms.
