What's the best 007 Jame Bond theme?

I don't know why but I love all the Bond songs from the 80s.......The Living Daylights, Liscence to Kill and of course A View To A Kill. Out of the recent ones my favorite is definitely the haunting The World Is Not Enough. Shirley's vocals were incredible and fit the tone of the song beautifully.

Plus it was even more striking coming of the back off electric heavy album 'VERSION 2.0'. It was a song that fit well with the bond ethos but could still hold it's own as an original song. It's just a shame they nevr put it on an album.

You Only Live Twice
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Live and Let Die
A View to a Kill

I admit I am biased, but Madonna's "Die Another Day" kicked ass. Not only the best Bond theme, but one of the best songs of her entire career. I love the way she blends a dark, classical string line with the tripped out electronic beat -- a fucking brilliant fusion of traditional classical music and futuristic electronica that nobody can pull off like The Madonna can. And the video she put together for the song was pure genius -- one of her best ever.

I like the new one by Chris Cornell a lot. The World Is Not Enough by Garbage was good too.

Goldfinger is my vote for "The Best."

I do have to say I really loved Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies. There is also a variation of the Monty Norman theme done by Parodi Fair that really kicks ass.

I need to rewatch all of these.

SinfulSimon:

Great job. One omission: In picking the title credits for "On Her majesty's secret service" you left out "We have all the time in the world" as sung by Satchmo in as a romantic interlude for George Lazenby and Diana Rigg. It's also on youtube, but I have no idea how to post it.

WOW! What a fun post. I'm a huge Bond fan (even though I've missed some of the newer ones).

I like On Her Majesty's Secret Service the best. That score is urgent, driving. It incorporates little bits of the first five themes (you can hear the Goldfinger horns and the Japanese bit, for instance.) It's also a totally groovy movie intro, and I LOVE how it pays homage to previous Bond girls and villians.

Finally, George Lazenby has the best 007 line of all time: THAT NEVER HAPPENED TO THE OTHER FELLOW.

I'm sorry he was in only one movie. He was good. So were Telly S and Diana Rigg. Underrated Bond movie and score.

I've never heard a Bond theme I didn't like. Also like You Only Live Twice.

1.Goldfinger
2. Die another day
3.Goldeneye

For me it will always be a tie between For Your Eyes Only by Sheena Easton and Nobody Does it Better by Carly Simon.

The top theme song for me would definitely have to be Nobody Does It Better by Carly Simon :)
