What's the best purchase you've made (recently or otherwise)?

I work at The Source (a Canadian electronics company), and a few weeks ago, these beasts were on sale:

I got an absolutely screaming deal on them, the sale being $50 off plus my employee discount! Every single time I listen to a new song on them I'm blown away by the clarity and power of the sound. The bass shakes the ear pads and the highs are flawlessly crystalline, and I'm picking up on layers in the production of songs I've never heard before. I'm a major audiophile, and now that I've owned them for a few weeks, I think I could almost justify paying full price for them if I had had to. Luckily, I didn't have to!

In terms of bang-for-buck, my car was a steal.

In terms of everything else, my old guitars have been it. The electric was bought for a song from a pawn shop - the proper rock'n'roll way, as God intended - for less than half what it would cost new. I've had it since I was 18, that's 18 years now, never had any issues with it, and it is now part of the very fabric of me. The classical was a loan which became a "you keep it, you've done more with it than I would have, ever" from a colleague of my mom's when I was 16. They've been the way I while away my spare time, there through the awkward and difficult Band years (and the subsequent break-up and re-forming), and if there was a fire those would be the things I would probably risk life and limb to go back into the conflagration to rescue.

All things considered, those are well worth what in today's money would be 90 of your American dollahs, which was the cost of the electric back in '95.

My car. It was the best purchase I ever made, and my most memorable! I paid $500 cash, but I don't even want to think about how much money I put into it. Still though, it's a good, solid, reliable car that will most likely last a very long time. I still need to do the body work, but I keep up with the general maintenance. Its issues are all cosmetic, and honestly, I think physical appearance is a lot less important than the mechanics of a vehicle... although it's still nice to have a good looking car
