  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

what's the best sitcom ever?

i just thought of one

Man About The House

the original british version of Three's Company

i still say Married With Children
Ewwwwwww!!! One of the worst shows of all time. When I heard that god-awful theme song start I'd reach for the remote.

The Simpson's is the most brilliant comedy I've ever seen. Genius!
Never have liked the Simpsons, and will avoid the movie like the plague.

My list:

#1 by far: I Love Lucy, for all the reasons mentioned here. It's a classic that has and will stand the test of time. Still as funny 50 years later, it's truly timeless.

Others in no particular order:

  • Dick Van Dyke
  • Mary Tyler Moore
  • M*A*S*H
  • Cheers
  • Frasier
  • Friends
  • Andy Griffith (B/W episodes with Barney)
  • Golden Girls
  • Home Improvement
  • Scrubs
Honorable mention (good, enjoyable, but not great):
  • WKRP
  • Roseanne
  • Family Ties

I don't think any sitcom has ever or will ever come close to beating 'I Love Lucy'.
I definetly agree with you..I love Lucy is a classic and the best sitcom ever..It has stood the test of time and will always being years from now!:-)

for me it's either i love lucy or roseanne. i love lucy is just plain fun and roseanne is the first sitcom to actually touch reality, which made it more powerful.

frasier comes in third for me

Britcoms:

To The Manor Born

The Good Life (a/k/a Good Neighbors in the states).

American sitcoms:

Green Acres

Simpsons

Arrested Development

Golden Girls

Designing Women

I Love Lucy

Mary Tyler Moore

Dick Van Dyke

Mama's Family (especially the syndicated eps, with Iola and Bubba)

The Powers That Be (Short-lived Norman Lear political sitcom with John Forsythe, Holland Taylor, and David Hyde-Pierce. Funny as shit, but NBC moved it around so much it never found an audience)

On The Air (Bizarre David Lynch sitcom, post-Twin Peaks. ABC bought 9 eps, only aired 6)
