  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What's the farthest north/south/east/west you've been?

Um.. I could be wrong but Jamaica is further east than Maine, I think and Alaska is further west than SF.

But I don't have a map and can't be arsed to look that up.
Well, shit...

I should know better than to answer anything involving geography. #-o

< See that pic of me in Key West ? I actually got lost trying to find that landmark. !oops!

East and west are really relative locations, unless we're talking the International date line, if so then...

North: Chena, Alaska
South: Stewart Island, New Zealand
East: Fiji
West: Samoa

East: Of where?
West: Of where?

In degrees longitude, east and west, so the nearest to 180 E and 180 W you've been (which mostly coincides with the International Date Line)

If you've been to any Pacific islands, that'll be extremely close.

..|

EDIT: I think slickery has just won for farthest east and west, having been to both Fiji and Samoa. :=D:

^ Further to that, slickery has also been farthest south so far (Stewart Island, New Zealand) :=D:

And I don't think anyone will beat oasisdude for farthest north (Thule Air Force Base, Greenland) :=D:

North - Darwin, Australia (although maybe Townsville/Cairns is higher)
South - Hobart, Australia
East - Kangaroo Island (QLD), Australia
West - Perth, Australia

lol :(

North : Canada
East: New Zealand
South : Coast of Victoria, Australia
West : USA

North: Somewhere in Northern Scotland (I'd have to look this up)
South: Key West
East: Calais, France
West: San Francisco

Highest: Mt. Lincoln, Colorado; 14,286 feet above sea level (on foot); in the car, Mt. Evans, Colorado, 14,264 feet above sea level

Lowest: Death Valley, California, -282 feet below sea level

N. Anchorage, AK

S. Singapore

E. Montserrat, British Crown Colony

W. Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok is actually in the Eastern Hemisphere, and Singapore is slightly east of Bangkok by 3 degrees longitude.

Well, I just took it to mean how far west from home I've been.

And, south, etc..

And as you say Singapore is slightly east of Bangkok, which is why Bangkok is my most westerly point.

Were the hemispheres mentioned in the rules of the game? Did I miss something?

Well Jockboy87.

To suit you:

N. Anchorage, AK

S. Singapore

E. Tokyo, Japan

W. Near Barking Sands, Kauii, Hawaii

Whatever.

Who knew I could go the farthest east by flying west, and fewer miles! :-)

N: Anchorage, Alaska
S: Christchurch, New Zealand

E & W: Hard to tell!

North: Bergen, Norway (60N)
South: Hobart, Tasmania (43S)
East: Brisbane, Australia (153E) - I thought maybe somewhere in SE Asia, but in fact Australia "sticks out" a fair bit
West: Portland, Oregon (122W)
