  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What's the population density where you live?

In my township, which is Pennsylvania's 6th largest municipality: 10,559 per sq. mi.

I like urban living. My township has little parkland or open space, though. I wish that had been better planned.

If I figured it right, it is 1970 per square mile in my suburban city, but 4900 per square mile in my block. It is fine with me.

In London? I very much doubt that

Its way easier to put London down as I don't want to give my exact location away. I'm in Surrey. But within 30/40 mins of London, much closer if you count a bunch of the southern overspill of Epsom and Redhill as now being essentially London.

Birmingham isn't much further away on a fast train. Maybe I should change my location to London too. ;)

Apply for a mortgage here and we're considered London. Were on the m25 and the only direction of travel everyday is into the centre. I'm sure you've all been in Surrey for the most part we are just the London suburbs with the exception of Guildford.

I can get to Watford in the time it takes you to get to London lol!

According to Wikipedia, the population density of Birmingham as a whole is 4,199 per square km, or, in real money, 10,878 per square mile. In my particular area it's nearer 6,500.

I have no idea what the population density is or how on earth I would find out for my suburb. I live in a suburb where the lots are just about 1/3 acre. There are some more congested areas but some park land to offset that. Although I wouldn't mind living in an apartment, I would like some green space available. So, I guess that I am satisfied with the density as it is and wouldn't want it much more congested nor too far to other people and services.

Somewhere there's an interactive map that lets you pinpoint your county or city and it tells you the info. I'll have to see if I can find it.

Probably about 65 to 70.

L'H: 53,000/sq mi- 20 384,32 /km²

BCN: 41,000/sq mi- 15 748,86 /km²

I knew I saw that map before

I'm not sure it was the map I was thinking of; the info I'm finding there shows the population density where I am as about 35% higher than my original source. But it's a great map; once you learn your way around the format there's all kinds of specific information that can be dragged up.

I'm not too sure of the source of information it shows. If you go to the block I live on it gives the density of 4,900 per square mile. 3/4 of the block consists of an elementary school, I know nearly half the residents of the other quarter of the block. Mostly older single person households. I would estimate 100 people on the block. That's a far cry from making it nearly 5k in a square mile. Yet the neighboring block filled with houses on city sized lots shows less people per mile.

28,251 per square mile, in my Chicago neighborhood called Edgewater, in the far northeast quadrant of the city, on the lake (as the name implies).

The population density is mostly because of the high rise condo and apartment buildings that line the lake along nearly its entire frontage; I am in that area.

This, coming from my previous location where the countywide population density is 55.3 people per square mile. Countywide where I am now (Cook County) it's 5,686 people per square mile.
