That depends on whose liver it was...
Seriously - I have eaten many of the things mentioned here...and would consider a lot of them to be less than 'strange'.
Pretty much any type of offal, buffalo, rabbit, escargot, frogs legs, sashimi, ceviche, squid, octopus, emu (very like ostrich - and how come no-one mentioned Kangaroo?..It's delicious!), snake, alligator, shark, jellyfish, haggis (tasty), black pudding, durian - most of these are considered far from unusual in many parts of the world...and I have tried all of them.
I must admit to having consumed a few other slightly odd things tho':
Armadillo, Piranha & Caju (the fruit of which the cashew nut is the seed - all of these in Brasil), Guinea Pig (it's a delicacy in Peru), Coca leaves (the traditional way) in Bolivia plus a few other - umm -'herbal/vegetable type items that I won't go into

).
Have also had cooked plantians (bananas) in both the Caribbean and Africa, Wildebeeste, Ostrich & Zebra (all in Kenya) but possibly the oddest of all would have been 'crunchy fried grasshoppers' on a train in Burma. The also had something similar to something mentioned by someone else - a small bird, fried and eaten, bones & all, (which I didn't sample). I have also seem Thai girls catch large moths and eat them, still fluttering (didn't try that either!). Oh - and I also drank beer in (the then) Zaire - which I was reliably informed afterward has been found to have been - ahh - 'supplemented' with a significant percentage of formaldehyde (it did the job tho'!).
There are all sorts of food sources out there....and I've probably forgotten a few (and there would likely have been many times when I had no idea what I was eating - probably just as well

).
