For me the worst thing about being gay is rejection from family members, friends and co-workers. (Generally people who are close to me or whom I interact with frequently.)

I , for the most part, don't care what the general public thinks about me and struggle minimally with self acceptance issues.

What do you struggle with the most with your homosexuality?

(I hope this poll hasn't been done already)

The WORST thing?

Not being able to wear whatever I want, having to stay in shape, and worrying about my hair style. :-)

External homophobia. It kills people every day. This why I don't engage fucking homophobes in conversation, as I'm likely to swing for them. "But nooooo....that like violates their right to free-speach and thought...." noooo it doesn't, spurious fucking nonsense. I have no intersts in being in control, you can't tell people what to say and think, that's not cricket. However, utterly abhorant, indefensible and fucking terminaly stupid opinions will be met with a physical respone.

The homophobia and possible violence LGBT people face every day. Worst of all, when religious leaders like to appeal to different ethnic groups to side against us, all the while saying they believe in equality for everyone (except us of course).

The homophobia from the public and especially religious leaders who keep telling us it's nothing personal while they strip away our right to marry and other things.

The way people treat you and AIDS are two things you always have to worry about when you're gay, and it sucks. . .but not in the good way.

The worst thing is the evident homophobia of my mother. She's a very good Christian, so she's better than all of us, and therefore hates gays (Sorry she doesn't hate. She is just very disgusted with it)

Where I am today, the worst thing is a serious lack of potential partners (less than 2.5% of the population are male and gay!). I'm lucky enough to not have to face any problems from family or friends, and I can honestly say that I have never experienced homophobia.

Maybe if I were somewhere else I would think differently, but being gay is pretty easy where I am.

Having to live up to people's expectations that I know "fashion" and having to outdo myself each time I go out.

:D

you can avoid a lot of homophobia, but i guess homophobia would be the root of self-acceptance as well.

Homophobia by the general public

Around here it is more like a hatred of gays. People get beat up and killed just for being openly gay.

Any family member that you loose never loved you in the first place. Any family member who drops you because of there belief in some God is really and ass hole tell them to fuck off.

The hardest part is Homophobia and tell them to fuck off too

There's only one right answer: "Homophobia by the general public." Without this force of ambivalence denigrating our self-reliance, the other statements would cease to be a problem.
