I am talking to the gargoyle lex, the piggyman, the pianist, the bear, etc. etc. What's with the characters?
 
yeah, i am kind of weirded out by the whole thing. You're not a piggy. And much to his protest, Lex is not a gargoyle. You're all just people. when will you admit this? when will you accept your humanity? #-o

Seriously, we all have a gimmick; it makes life a bit more enjoyable.

Do I have to answer this again? :) OK.

When I first signed on, I chose Lexington as the name. (The "G-" was added because "Lexington" had already been taken.) I chose the name because I'm a cartoon fan, and Lexington was one of the few mainstreem cartoon characters that was written as homosexual.

Am I really a gargoyle? No, of course not. And if I'm "playing" at the role, I'm obviously not very good at it. Just recently, I've posted about my job, my ethnicity, and even posted photos of myself in the appropriate thread. But hey, some people like addressing me as a gargoyle, and I like responding in kind. Just a bit of roleplaying. That wasn't my intention when I chose the sign-in name, but I'm happy for it. I like writing fiction, so it's fun to crawl into a different character and try to speak as him.

There's are a couple of "chatty" thread where a bunch of people talk about this and that. They're known as "bars" or "lounges", and JUBbers go in there, order drinks, and then someone posts a picture of said drink. Nobody feels the need to point out the artifice of the whole thing - "I didn't REALLY get my Stella, and you're REALLY not a bartender". It's just a fun little nothing to add to the ambience of the thread.

Perhaps a better question is - why do you have a problem with it? Nobody else seems to.

On another forum, I'm called Demon. I'm not remotely demonic, but James was taken.

I mean, what's your problem with characters? They don't play at being it, they just like a certain symbol. For example, GL247 likes Green Lantern. Lex likes Lexington the gargoyle. It's a lot easier to distinguish each person when names are like that.
 
I have nothing against characters. I am not a characterphobe :)
