i thought mtv stood for music television. what's up with all these shows taking over? america's next top model...a decent show, but it's outdated, has nothing to do with music, and needs to be moved to another channel...NOW!!! all weekend and even during some weekdays...are they crazy? the real world, road rules, etc. used to be good, but they're crap now. the hills....the list goes on. what do you guys think?
 
Uh... what's NOT wrong with MTV. How much more reality crap can they shoot out?
 
What was ever right with MTV.

I have never really been into MTV. I know they used to have Music Videos but I used to not be into music. And most of it was just pop or r&b which I don't like.

I saw a 3DG video on the other day though which was good. That's one of my favorite bands.

I thought it's always had stuff like "SPOILED SEXTEEN" or "THE REAL WORLD ABOUT FAKE DRAMA THAT WE MAKE UP SO YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF" and crap like that. Jackass has always been funny same as viva la bam. I think those are the only shows I've ever liked on MTV.

Blech..MTV.
 
During the 80's MTV was such a driving force in music it's sad to see what it has turned in to----but now there are so many other ways to get new music and learn of new acts---and you don't have to be subjected to the whim of a show's programmer to wait for your favorite video to come on. They definitely need to do a name change.
 
Do you mean besides the fact that every weekend and almost every other week they are showing episodes of America's Next Top Model. It should just be called the Tyra Network.

And don't you just love how at the end of those episodes they go 'a VH1 production'. Well if that's the case, why not waste time on VH1 with the marathons?
 
I used to hate MTV, often calling it Musicless Televison, but recnetly I found out that Muchmusic has the rights for playing Music Videos in North America, through an accidental clause in their contract, which will be ending in the next couple of years, so we'll see if it turns back into Music Television.

Got this tidbit from a reliable source who has alot of contacts in the music business.
 
I have no problems with most of the shows but i do get annoyed with the reruns of Top model and stuff. I know they play music videos early morning...they should take out a lot of the reruns and just play music videos. That would be better...
 
MTV sucks ass. I don't think that I have seen a music video on TV for the past 5 years. Either watch it online or on Music on Demand. Used to watch TRL for a little bit for videos but got annoyed with the shorten format, and teenage girls interrupting the video.
 
Hmmm, I guess it's exactly like Paris Hilton's career then.
 
I've heard this same argument for years.

MTV hasn't been all about the music for a good while now.

They have other MTV music channels that are only music videos but you don't get them with basic cable.
 
MTV needs to get it's priorities together. Not only is there a lack of music, but most of it's shows are pointless. The Real World is the channel's longest running show, but look at how fake it is now...slim and muscular bodied roommates that drink, party and have sex.

There's nothing groundbreaking about it. It's just like marleyisalegend said, "catering to a mindless and superficial audience". Thankfully I'm not one of them.

i know the felling about mtv. some of the shows are amusing, but unless there really is nothing on, then i dont watch it

but americas best dance crew was really good
 
Nothing is wrong with MTV... that is you want to watch America's Next Top Model 24/7
