Anybody have some good wine recommendations? I like wine but I really don't know what to buy.

I prefer red over white. I recently tried Gnarly Head Zinfandel and Chateau Ste Michelle Riesling. Both of them were pretty good. My favortie wine so far though is 'Hess Allomi" Cabernet Sauvignon.

The best wine I ever tried was a few years ago. It was around $50 for the bottle. All I can remember is the top/cork was covered in red wax kind of like Maker's Mark Whiskey and the bottle had exquisite writing. It was very dry too. Anyone have any idea what it could be?
 
it's easier to say what I don't like

I don't like beers that have too much hop, or cheap American beers

I don't like most liquors that have anise taste.
