What's your level of knowledge when it comes to gay porn?

I am amazed when I see posts here on JUB where someone knows a particular porn star and all the movies that they've been in. I can't name a single porn star or any one porn title. I'm just not that into porn. Don't get me wrong, I with the rest of you watching gay porn. But I don't have an extensive collection. I guess there are those of you that do however. Just wondering?

I don't know anything about the newer stuff. I've always been a fan of 'vintage' porn from the 70s and 80s and I was particularly fond of Brian Hawkes, Jon King, David Ashfield, Mike Henson, Eric Manchester. . .

The guys were natural back then and it actually looked like they were enjoying what they were doing and not just thinking about the cheque they were going to get when they blew their load for the camera.

nwdavis and I certainly have that in common. Jeff Stryker and Colton Ford are about the only names I recognize at all, and I'll recognize neither SPONTANEOUSLY/on sight, though I know that I find Colton Ford to be stunningly gorgeous. And as far as Jeff Stryker, references to him probably belong in the ISOIR thread.

But then, with me having a touch of Asperger's in my current adult life, that's not very conducive to remembering faces-with-names either.

I take virtually no notice of anything in porn. On the odd occasions when I download one, I tend to fast-forward through it looking to see if there is anyone I fancy doing anything remotely sensual or erotic; there rarely is. Usually the guys are too young, too muscley, or too groomed to hold much interest for me; and the action is nearly always dull and boring. I guess that's why I can't remember any of the performer's names or the titles of their vids.

The guys I mentioned were of Jeff's era and some even starred with him. Mike Henson was in Power Tool (1 & 2) with Jeff and Kevin Williams did a few scenes with him.

I was never a big fan of Jeff's unless I turned the volume down.

Oh, yeah. And there was John Davenport as well, and Matt Ramsey. . .

I do know those names, very beautiful men.

10-15 years ago I could have named many of the stars of the day, had loads of klunky VHS tapes in my collection. Now, I still have my favorite oldies...but rarely buy actual DVD's. I watch/download online, including here from the Boy's Club.
I haven't kept up on the biggest stars of today.

My favorite vintage star is Rick Wolfmier, and I found him recently on MySpace. I think he only made one movie, but he was in several Colt magazines.

I got to meet Colton Ford at a pool party in Hollywood - I didn't know who is was before. I also met Jason Branch and Eric Evans at the same party and didn't know who they were before. I met Chi Chi La Rue and found her too rude and obnoxious to have a pleasant conversation, and so I moved on after exchanging very few words with her. I did go to one of her birthday parties later and saw people I did recognize, although I can't think of their names right now, although Matthew Rush was one of them. I used to see Alec Powers at the gym that I went to in WeHo before he was in movies.

I have a bulky collection of VHS tapes that I never watch, and they're taking up a lot of space. I have more DVDs, and I tend to select them either by director or by performer. I especially like the wrestling videos because I like to wrestle. My hairdresser was asked to be in a BG West wrestling video, but he declined because he said they didn't pay enough. I used to go to the wrestling club in WeHo with him, but I stopped doing that a few years ago.
