  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What's your take on internet browsing/watching porn at workplace?

Somebody better get the memo to the SEC,where while all financial hell was taking our economy to the brink...we not only find out they weren't sleeping on the job,in many cases they were wanking to porn on the taxpayer dime. And who will get fired for that?Don't think anyone.

I work in a supermarket stocking shelves and working product for sales,so I don't have time or access to a computer at work.Certainly if I did wouldn't be taking chances on company computers, just not worth the risk and it is highly unprofessional.

Thanks for your input though there were some extremely self-righteous-moral-brigade type replies. Yes, watching porn at work is deplorable act but many here have agreed to going to Facebook and browsing for fun during breaks etc. I guess that is also not acceptable then. If you are at work then you should totally concentrate on your work, no?

It really depends on the policies and expectation at your workplace.

But browsing porn is a whole different order of problem, potentially opening yourself and your employer to sexual harassment lawsuits. That's a problem logging into Facebook isn't probably going to cause... depending on your FB.

In the good old days before the Internet one of the construction contractor's trucks, the foreman's no less, had some straight dirty magazines stashed behind he seat. We were allowed to look during breaks, as there were no women around the jobsite, as long as we put them back when the break time was over.
The most I did back then at my other job was read magazines like the Advocate on my breaks.
Of course most guys dont work in an office all day; many of us drive, work in factories, warehouses, garages, outdoors, etc. where computers arent accessible.
