I decided to go to the beach where it was supposed to be about 80° because it was supposed to be 98° up my favorite river. Instead it hit 88° at the beach and 111° up my favorite river.

I packed enough water and such for the 80° number, but the extra heat meant the dogs needed more water. They drank all the melted ice from my cooler plus I shared half of my own reserve. Result: severe heat exhaustion.

I'm still dealing with it today; what I really need is an air conditioner.

A small spray/misting ^bottle of water can be helpful when you dont have AC. Spritz yourself with water and sit in front of a fan. Helps to cool your body down.

Good idea about the mister. I do have a small AC, but it can't handle my apartment as it is not strong enough.


I did buy the other day for about $20 a personal neck fan cooler. It also helps. You can put it under your shirt at your waist or hang it from your neck. I recommend that too members needing to cool down as well.

at long last.

after weeks of drought with an occasional shower.

25 mm on friday

12 mm monday

6 mm tuesday

and up to now....another 25 mm.

Of course, I have about 3 acres of lawn that is effectively dead and it is wreaking havoc with the delphiniums and hollyhocks today.....but jimminy christ we needed this.

Contrary to yesterday, the second part of the daytime has been sunnier. Temperatures in the same average of 70ºF/21ºC to 79ºF/26ºC moderate sultry summer day, very typical of June... so unlike the canicular weeks during this month.

Two of my Walmart's had their coolers and freezers stop. Now they are using some plastic as well. It is not just Washington.


Right now it says it is 70f, but it still feel way over that.

I am taking it easy. Supposedly a few days ago my city was the hottest on Earth. Even Egypt and Dubai were cooler which is sad since they are deserts.
