After three days of piled up snow and compacted ice, people have realized they can't indulge their homey, indolent fantasy forever. So, with no change in driving conditions (terrible), they've suddenly gotten out and about. I'm ecstatic about having a cash flow again.

The forecast has been backed-off; a Winter Storm Watch is now downgraded to a Winter Weather Advisory.
I'm on the northern edge of this mess.
There could be up to 1/4 inch of ice, but it will probably be less, because they keep cutting back the duration, and somewhat reducing the "% chance"s as well, of the hours with frozen precipitation - by Monday afternoon it will be raining and it will melt all of this.
Right now it's about 26 and merely overcast; originally we were supposed to start getting ice about now.
No complaints!!

We ended up with only a very think sheet of ice from all of this; we were just a little too far east for any of the "real" stuff. Right now it's foggy (or perhaps drizzly), and what ice there is, is melting...and it will STAY that way. It's supposed to rain most of the day.
Even at night, during the next ten days, there are almost no temperatures in the forecast that fall below freezing. Anything like this in January is definitely a "gift" (a couple days are hitting the 50s) and is rather unusual for here.
I heard some hints that the pattern is supposed to change before month's end, and it gets cold again, but I'll take this while I can avail of it.

Well the South of France was clear sunny skies today but with a biting wind and temperatures around 9°C.
