Kien, Rzredg, and I are pretty much fucked.

I know Connecticut just closed classes for Monday and Tuesday, Pennsylvania is about to be declared, New York is getting evacuated and New Jersey/Road Island are staying perched for their announcement.

Anyone chilling in those states atm? I really need to run to Wegmans and pick up pre-prepared food to eat but I don't want to deal with the crowds I'd rather just go tomorrow morning before the storm hits.

I'm getting told to have a lot of pasta because with gas stoves and water you can make a ton. Cool idea.

Edit: Don't forget people: Charge. Your. Devices. Constantly. Until. Power. Is. Gone. Also don't forget you can charge in your car as well, just make sure the gas is on or your battery will die and then there goes your transportation.

Goodbye East Coast of the USA.

I believe Massachusetts has declared too. I live on the southcoast so we're watching very closely.

I have this dumb ass paper to write then I might just go and scoop up what I need today. Fuck. :dead:

you act like this is a good thing. america needs us. we have the nation's capitol. :p

well.... it turns out that the storm is hitting directly for us in jersey. either way, we're totally fucked. i got the feeling that this will not be like irene last year. what should have happened last year is going to happen this time? the storm is supposed to make landfall on tuesday. unlike the last storm. i expect some roofs to be ripped off of houses, trees to fall, and even worst. it's going to be a storm that's going to fuck us up.

i'm ready for a power outage or to not take a bath in days.

I don't have to work tomorrow because MA has a state of emergency.

The major concern is that those that have electric heating. If they lose power, they lose heating too and especially for the elderly, that could lead to death.

well, that's true but at the same time, electric heating isn't good either. read somewhere about electric radiators being very dangerous to use during blackouts because of the build up of carbon monoxide.

no We're really sorry about the loss of the east coast, but it apparently will be God's will.........probably because of the cockgobbling homos.........

anyhoo...we are still slated to fly into Washington next Thursday and we are bringing peanut butter and jelly in order to make sandwiches for the refugees.....

Prayers for all you guys there. My guy is in Columbia, Maryland and I begged him to pick up supplies on Friday on his way home. good thing he did because there is a rush on at Weis and there is nothing left. No bottled water, little fruit, and that's about it.

Best of luck to you all!!!

Who gonna start the countdown until a nutty preacher says god is mad and that's why this happening and send me all your money so I hold it until we get to the next life.

I’m thinking you meant to say ‘generators’?

Otherwise, how would anyone use an electric heater/radiator during a blackout?

And, I would hope that no one would try to use/run a gas-powered generator inside the house.

-----------

And, unsolicited FYI - a bit of info about the loss of electricity/heat;

Most gas heating systems are forced air – they rely on electricity to ignite, and to move air via electric blower/fan.

Or, gas hot water systems – most need electricity to run a pump that circulates the hot water through the pipes/radiators.

Without power, both of these ‘gas heat’ systems are just as useless as total electric heating systems.

-----------

Also, people who live in rural areas, or without gravity fed city water, rely on an electric pump for their water. Usually, the biggest problem for them is not being able to bath or even flush the toilet. That can get pretty nasty if the power is off very long. They should keep a few ‘extra’ gallons on hand if they can.

I'm not sure, but would gas pumps at gas stations be electronic and not function if the electricity went off?

^ Yes, and so would the cash-registers, lights, and auto-doors.
