I tend to oversompensate, unconsciously: when it's been a long day, I sometimes even signal on sharp corners in the road. That probably really makes people laugh... or maybe wonder what they don't know?
As far as others -- on the freeway, I see more signals at night -- but maybe that's because they show up better... which reminds me of another thing I hate: people who take their 4WDs out mudding and then drive on the roads with mud over ALL their lights, brakes included. Anyway, I judge that the use of turn signals is inversely proportional to the difference between the vehicle's velocity and the posted speed limit, on the open road. In the city, the bigger the vehicle, the less likely the signal.
