When does a date become a boyfriend?

More good answers.

...began calling each other "partners" after we made a commitment to each other. Until then, when we were dating, the term was boyfriend
Yeah, but did you call him bf on the first date? When does it transition?

I guess it all depends on THE discussion but you can usually tell. I think. If you're both on the same page it'll be like natural....
It's close. Real close.

When you have your first big argument.
We're getting there.

I actually posed a similar question elsewhere on JUB and I got good feedback from the guys who replied. Basically asking him and talking about it is the key....However, if we are still together next Feb 14 and things are still going great I will be sure to do something extra special to let him know how I really feel. It seems like the perfect occasion. :luv:
Awwww. That's cute.

When he has a key to your house.
My prediction: This weekend.

you both must make it known to your friends that you are now 'off the market/taken.'
We've already discussed this. We've both recently jilted other guys we were seeing. ..|

I remember in High School back when I was a youngster , you were bf and gf as soon as you were dating each other fairly exclusively.

So I guess the question is, when do you start GOING STEADY? ;)

In my current relationship we kept goign out quite often, and we both assumed that we were boyfriends after awhile, we never officially marked "from this point on" or anything. Still together a year and a half now.

Going Steady? OMG, I forgot all about that one! :-) Take me back 30 years, why doncha? I'm guessing that phrase went out of style after about the Pleistoscene. ;)

Yeah, that makes perfect sense (and congrats, btw). But I do sorta feel the insecurities of a teenager despite my age, since this would be my first-ever boyfriend at age 43. (Yes, I was in denial)

Well, we got into some deep conversations last night (before the sex :sex: ;) ).

We were lying next to each other on the love seat, just talking. It seemed like an especially opportune moment. I got up and then kneeled/crouched down on the floor next to him. I started lovingly stroking his hair and beard, recounting the best moments of the past 4 weeks. Mentioned how we both recently jilted other guys we were dating, and how we previously discussed how neither one of us had any desire to be anything other than monogamous.

As I went on and on, I detected just the slightest hint of nervousness under the enormous smile he had (and at this point the only enormous thing on him was his smile ;) ). Not sure if he thought I was going to say we should elope to Canada and get married or what?!

But I left a slight pause for drama (not Drama), looked deep into his beautiful blue eyes, and asked if I could call him my boyfriend.

His whole facial expression tightened, then relaxed, and then his fantastic smile grew back on his face. He looked at me and asked if that meant I wanted him as my first boyfriend. I nodded my head & said yes, and he got this cute little expression on his face and said he'd be honored for us to be Boyfriends.

All together now:

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

We proceeded to make cute little boyfriend references for the rest of the evening (emphasizing the word 'boyfriend' whenever we talked about ourselves in social situations, for example), so I know he was really happy about our decision.

So now we're both in 7th heaven.

Give it until the weekend before we have our first fight. ;) Seriously, we're both really happy right now. And we get to spend Thanksgiving together, too. Life is good.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!! :)

That is just so darn cute. :D You guys sound really comfortable around each other. I think you are definitely at the boyfriend stage. I'll bet you feel even more connected to him now.

Congratulations. You are quickly becoming an authority in this stuff. ..|

(*8*) Ain't boyfriendism just great! Everybody needs one.

FAN-freakin'-TASTIC!! Just let yourself go and enjoy, Enjoy, ENJOY!! (group):hurray:(!w!)

And ... of course ... as though you could not, even if you tried, right now ...

Keep smilin'!! (*8*)
Chaz ;)

Lube,

I am so glad to hear that you are doing well. Boyfriends? Congrats. Good for you.

Michelle

LUBE!

Congratulations! :) How wonderful ...

My experience was a little less climactic (no pun intended). When he introduces me to his neighbor as his boyfriend I was like (*U*) !!

I guess it was something he assumed and I assumed likewise. We did have an unrelated conversation in which we confirmed that the other was not seeinig anyone else and has no desire to.

Life is wonderful isn't it?
