When they said 9 inches they meant actual inches

Love to share.

On our west terrace we have 3 feet and the banks along the driveway are now 5 to 6 feet.

It's 24 F here in Orlando. There was Gulf Effect Snow on our West coast last night. Never even heard of that. :bartshock
Oh yep. I saw the forecast for that posted on a weather-related site I use.
Similar to how the lake-effect thing on the great lakes works. (except with gulf effect, it requires multiple things to come together just right )
Oh and 24F...you're colder down there than I am up here in CO

We had a 100 (actual count not hyperbole) cars and service trucks stranded on the highway and the national guard was deployed because these country bumpkins couldn't stay inside for 12 hours. You'd think it was a fucking blizzard.

Probably the same idiots that said social distancing was a hoax.

And it is snowing here again today. Probably another couple of inches and then a big dump tomorrow.

Still nothing here. Until that ridge (high pressure) in the southwestern US breaks down, or weakens, or is forced east, the storm-track is going to keep going up(north) over it & then down through the midwest...
Then you get a closed-low or trough(types of low pressure centers) over the great lakes, depending on its strength/location that storm-track flows east through the central-eastern US, or it wraps around the closed-low & heads back up northeast...
Get a really strong setup of mentioned above, combined with an arctic coldfront coming down from the north....well you saw what happened last week with snow & freezing as far south as Florida.

There's 50 cm of snow 30 km NE of my main flat. That's over an hour by metro and cogwheel railway (or a few hours by car).

We had the same amount of snow downtown in 2021 (and in 1971 apparently) when it brought everything to a halt as the snow kept falling for four days.
