When threads are locked...

Shouldn't the mod responsible post an explanation in the thread before locking it? I'm just wondering about the recent thread about Donal Og [Cusack]. I couldn't see anything lockable in there. Anybody care to explain it to me?

Sometimes they do. I would like it if they always did it (unless of course it was obvious) because I was confused by that too...

Sometimes we close a thread because it has become what we call a train wreck. We'd have to delete and edit so much out, that it wouldn't leave enough to proceed with a cogent discussion.

Sometimes the OP may request that a thread be deleted or closed. I generally like to leave a line or two indicating why I close a thread, sometimes it's very obvious why a thread has been closed and I don't. But Lukee, you're point is well taken.

I didn't close this one, but I will ask what happened.

I saw that one locked and was curious. Upon reading, though, it made no sense why it was closed, unless things were being said in Gaelic which I couldn't read.

Have no idea, but there are a number of other threads on the subject in Hot Topics, Sports, and Gay Men and Hot Porn going, so maybe someone just decided enough was enough.
