Two or three summers back I was walking to Aldi's with one of their shopping bags rolled up in my back pocket. I geuss it made a suspicious bulge under the tail of my shirt. A passing cruiser stopped and two cops got out - one engaging me in conversation while the other circled behind me and lifted my shirt-tail. They still wanted my ID and took down my name and address after ascertaining that it was only a plastic shopping bag.

LOL! This thread brings up a fun memory.

My last run in with the police was at the end of July when a few of them let themselves into my room while I was cuddling... naked... with a date.

But THAT is a story meant for chat after a few beers.

I talked to a buddy of mine two days ago. He's a policeman in Toronto. And three days ago I was walking through the Castro and a policeman stopped me and said "Jasun? I read your blog. You're funny... what are you doing in San Francisco?"

We talked for a minute and then he went on his way.

It was a bit surreal.

A cop gave me a WARNING (not a ticket) for rural speeding about a year ago, forty miles from here. Only one of my interactions with police over the years has ever been "improper" - a pot bust in 1990 which surely was nothing more than a shakedown, and no evidence that there was ever any record kept of it.

I've never been struck or threatened by a cop.

In the course of as much traveling as I do - more than 1.2 million lifetime miles of driving - I *WILL* run into police occasionally.

Lacking really bad experiences doesn't mean that I feel safe around them. NOT AT ALL. All I have to do is to possibly be perceived as having an attitude or something, and the cop may ask to search and "FIND" the cocaine that was in his pocket all along, waiting to spring it on whatever schmuck he chooses to.
