Has anyone noticed that many gay men on Facebook have profile pictures that look like it should be on Manhunt or Adam4Adam....?

Seriously. I can't count how many of my gay friends on Facebook are all oiled up, shirtless and in front of the bathroom mirror taking a picture of themselves after they take a shower. And then post it as their main profile pic.

Or they have a professionally done photograph where they hire a professional photographer to take pictures of them wearing nothing but designer underwear and tons of Photoshop.

Or better yet, you'll even see a few 'tasteful' semi-nudes that barely squeeze by the picture mods.

I personally blame gay culture but seriously Facebook isn't Manhunt.

Your high school/college friends and your family don't need to see your greased up chest, pubic hair, bare ass, sexually demure eyes and questionable underwear choices as your main profile pic.

Have some couth, loves.

Maybe many of them are putting it out there on Facebook because they faced bullshit from people earlier in their lives, and it's their way of showing off how they've blossomed/grown/thrived since the days of being others' whipping boys in regards to their orientations.

Or maybe they're just shallow.

Or maybe they want to do that, have friends that like to see it, and you should stop being a fucking net nanny about it?

Summer and Halloween are the only acceptable times of the year to me to have a near nude pic of yourself. The latter if you're spectacularly drunk.

But I always LOL when I see one of my gay friends have pose on the bed with nothing but their underwear in bloody December. And then read their poor auntie comment about it. LOL.

Why is Narcisim to be blamed on Gay Culture? I know people who are gayer than Christmas and have amazing bodies who would no sooner pose semi nude for Facebook than fly in the air.

Personal choice is simply that, personal choice.

Ugh, you mean the bodybuilders.

Granted I understand bodybuilders when I went through my gym craze about a year ago.

But bodybuilders ALWAYS show off their muscles whenever they can.

I did once and I completely regret it since I recognize it was a douche thing to do.

everyone knows myspace is where thats acceptable! ugh...i hate when people can't understand the rules of etiquette of social networking sites...

If I work hard to get a good, hot looking body...I would totally want to flaunt it too. If you don't like see oiled up bodies, send them to me :)

Where do you suppose perspective employers look for information on a job applicant?

Hmmmm. I don't believe you diamondskin. Friend me and turn down the privacy protocols.

I'll report back about the half nekkid menz, all oiled up, and and excuse me, something just popped up and I need to deal with it post haste.

That's what privacy settings are for. Only my friends can see anything of mine. However, I don't post pictures like are described. I've posted two shirtless ones out of over 150 photos.

I've seen a few friends of gay friends who have multiple shirtless pictures. I think they only use it to find other gay guys. I don't know why I find that sad.

And I use Facebook to post links, quasi-twitter and to harvest fish.

I have straight male friends who do the same things, and girls who have loads of bikini pics from the beach. I think sexualizing yourself is a pretty common action in any social networking site, as well as most social situations.

I get it but there are plenty of girls with their tits hanging out in their profile pics too.

I dont mind... I mean it's their problem, their picture and their body.

If they want to be naked then ok.
Don't be too judgmental

maybe you should hand that memo over to the emo-girls with their high angle from above cleavage presenting shots ;)
