When will the Republicans realize that they lost the election, and that the Democrats are in power and will be for some time to come.

What's with all the bitterness? Why can't Republicans accept that they aren't in power anymore? All this hostile energy is a waste of time and effort, and all this energy should be used for something productive.

I hear these crazy ramblings about "I want my country back!". Back from where? Back from whom? Do you consider your country "taken" away from you? Don't you have anything better to do than act like a fool in front of everyone?

What about when George W. was at the helm. Where there screaming, tearful Democrats waving into the news cameras crying about that? No! We just sat back and watched the Republicans make a mess of the country, and now we're back in trying to clean up all this mess.

Democrats disrupted Bush's inauguration parade. There was such a high threat of violence that they had to cut it short. They disrupted numerous state of the unions, and other important speeches. (regardless of what side of the aisle you're on, the SOU is an important speech)

They did everything they could to scuttle Bush's agenda, including refusing to allow votes on judges, block legislation in the senate, and speak out profusely (much as republicans are doing now) about the 'evils' of his agenda.

Its complete and utter bullshit for you to try and claim that the democrats didn't do what the republicans are now doing, because they did. They were whiny little bitches (just like the nuttier republicans) and bitched and moaned until 9/11.

Let's unpack this.

First of all, no one is being denied the right to express their opinion. Some have been more boisterous than others, but show me where even the most obnoxious kook has actually prevented someone at one of these townhalls from expressing their opinion. (there was video on the national news tonight of Specter's latest town hall, and although there were some loud disagreements, most everyone on both sides were given the opportunity to speak) What has happened is that the reps. and senators don't like what people are saying and shut down the town halls before everyone gets a chance to speak.

Second of all, if anything the way these people are reacting owes itself more to the way the left reacted through much of the 20th century to, well, everything.

Shouting down those they disagree with? Sounds a lot like the war protestors of the 60s and 70s.

Protesting against something you disagree with? Again, the 60s and 70s come to mind.

Seems to me they're taking a page out of the left's playbook, which is something you and those like you obviously don't like.

I'm glad the media is focusing on the excesses of the right-wingers. They're only shooting themselves in the foot by acting this way. A couple of days ago the Idiot-quitter former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin was talking about Obama "Death Panels", then she retracted the next day stating "I didn't say that". The insanity continues.

The Gothic Newt Gingrich was spreading lies about health care reform on George Stephanopolous's program on Sunday morning, and when Stephanopolous said that wasn't in the health care bill he continued to ramble on like nothing ever happened.

If these are the best Republicans can have as leaders, there is no hope for them. They are going by way of the Whig party.

It's too bad; a once powerful political party has self destructed.

I did some surfing this AM and came across these sites. I don't know if you want to consider them Republicans or Conservative or just wingnut extremists. I would guess the latter. But they are just insane. I mentioned in another thread that these disruptions at town hall meetings are going to go violent and there will be fighting in the streets.

I think people will like the truth and appreciate what is being done for the American people. Why does it not surprise me that the political orientation most opposed to health care reform represents mostly the part of the country with the poorest health and highest rates of uninsured?
