when you were just a little guy were you a briefs boy or a boxer boy? in my family me and my brother only ever wore briefs. pj's up until we were 14 or so were briefs and a tshirt. do you think that the kind of underwear we are made to wear as kids has any influence on our sexuality?
 
I grew up with 4 older brothers. We all wore the same brand of underwear - Y-fronts.

The other 4 brothers are all married with grown families. I'm the only one who is gay. So, underwear didn't have any influence on us at all.

No. I don't believe that the type of underwear you wear has any influence on your sexuality. Briefs were fine for me as a kid, but once I reached adulthood and my manhood developed, briefs became far too uncomfortable for me, so I now wear low rise boxer briefs.
 
My doctors have always advocated boxers, because the testicles need to hang free of the body and remain relatively cool to function as nature intended. I would never wear whitie tighties except when I am crusing and wearing my Aussie Bum Super Jocks which are neither white not uncomfortable. But they are tight and they grab and bring the equipment up for presentation in a pair of tight blue jeans.

Pretty much everyone in my generation wore briefs (in England, y-fronts) until high school, when they made up their own minds. Most in my high school gym classes still wore briefs.

Most of my father's generation wore boxers.

I don't know when briefs were introduced, but I imagine it was after WWII.
 
^^Close enough. I was born in 1949 and pretty much all my generation wore briefs.

My father's generation (pre-war) all wore boxers.
 
Growing up, my mom always bought briefs for me. Usually Hanes or the like. My father has always worn Jockey briefs. I used to wonder why the front of his were different.

As an adult, I changed over to boxers, and I'll never go back. I like the freedom I get from boxers.

Did this affect my sexuality? I don't think so. Not anymore than choosing high top shoes over sneakers! What kind of question is that!?

Yeah, being gay, I went for the colored underwear way before it became 'fashionable', but that's just me.
 
I have always (and still do) wear briefs. But I remember as a very young child thinking how much fun it was to wear no underwear at all.

When I was a little guy it was tightie whities with green dinosaurs and rocket ships...

Up until 12 or 13 PJ's were a long nightshirt and undies, and after that it was just boxers and a t-shirt.

Now I wear boxer briefs, which double as PJ's.:D

No it doesn't influence your sexuality.

My brother and I used to wear TMNT briefs. I loved them. I loved the cartoons they had. I think we both wore the cartoon briefs until fourth or fifth grade. Then we were to "old" to wear those and switched to tighty whiteys. That was all through middle school. Then for a while I used to wear the tighty whiteys and boxers.

Now I just wear boxers, and the good thing about them I can still wear cartoon ones. They have so many designs. Boxers are awesome.

I must say that when I was growing up I thought of them as old people underwear b/c my great grandpa used to wear them except they were just plain and boring.

My grandpa wears briefs, so I think its just a matter of taste. Although I never liked the boxer-briefs.
 
If underwear controlled sexual preference, I think we might all opt for the "commando" look!..| And I still remember the thrill of seeing Jim Palmer (US baseball player) modelling Jockey bikini briefs when they were first introduced (here one might swoon from all the blood rushing from one head to the other).(!) (!)
