When you're sick, how long do you wait before you see a doctor?

If i phone before 10am a Doctor will come out sometime that day to see me.

Otherwise there is a walk in surgery between 8-10 three mornings a week.

If i want an appointment it can take up to two weeks sometimes.

It may not have been but if you experience this again try and remember what kind of toothpaste/mouthwash you have been using.

I know mouthwash allergy hurts like hell.

I don't think it was strep throat. Isn't that treated by taking antibiotics? What I had went away on its own.

No worries about contracting it via blowjobs seeing as I'm not sexually active.
 
Question: When you're sick, how long do you wait before you see a doctor?

* I usually seek alternative medicine or anything to prevent myself before I splurge my money to usurer which I call the-health-care system of the United States.
 
A month in between visits, usually for check-ups. Sucks that I have to wait that long and tough it out til I can see someone. Seeing a gastroenterologist next month about my chronic illnesses.

The problem in the USA is, "what is truly sick?" I have friends who tell me that at the first sign of a cold they see their Dr. and get a "shot".
I have gone for such things as food poisoning and it was a good call to go, but even for the flu I just rest drink water and weather the storm.
Of course here we have health insurance, years ago it covered most of an office visit, today that's not the case as people used the ins. to go for such things as a common cold.

So, with all respect, could you define "truly sick" thanks.

Good question...many people respond to their gut instinct pressuring them to visit a physician or hospital....the intution often speaks more wisely than our fear of discovering a serious illness which restrains many people from making an appointment.

Ones symptoms should also trigger a response that encourages us to seek immediate medical assistance.
 
I normally don't go to a doctor. There's just something about dozing off in a waiting room and waking up with a crazy psycho standing over me with a scalpel in hand, trying to cut me open and get at my organs, that turns me off to the whole medical profession. I don't care how dead they think I am, they best make sure before attempting to slice me open or I'm bound to slit they' throats instead.
 
Depends how sick you are.
If just a flu, i don't see a doctor unless i need antibiotics for sore throat ....

When I'm feeling so much pain that OTC pain medications are not enough. When I can't breathe in without feeling some pain. When I can't lay down and sleep because of pain. A very serious wound.

You don't need antibiotics for a sore throat; gargle with salt water, eat more garlic and onions, pop vitamin C lozenges to suck on, along with medicated throat lozenges.



I start with Web MD and other sites that allow me to narrow down what I have. If I'm not certain, my insurance has a help line and I can talk through the symptoms and get their input on a diagnosis. Only if I can't figure it out do I bother seeing a doc; fortunately, thanks to the religious folks who run the hospital and clinic here, there's an Immediate Care section where the longest wait I've seen was forty minutes.
