Cardinals-St-Peters-Basilica-mass-selection-pope-March-12-2013.jpg

This is the first year we haven't had at least one pair of Cardinals around the house and nesting in the bushes.

We miss them.

Is anyone else noticing that they aren't around?

Is it global warming or a warning that we are about to plunge into an icy abyss come January?

:rotflmao:

fun story: when I was a kid I wanted to study ornithology, ergo after years of Woody Woodpecker being the only tattoo on my left arm I've decided the whole arm is gonna be birds. My next tat is gonna be a pair of cardinals, my home state bird.

To answer your question, global warming. Definitely global warming.

Now that you mentioned it, I have not seen any cardinal around my house this season. There is always at least one at the bird feeder, but not this season.

I saw a female cardinal just below my window this afternoon. I keep thinking that I hear cardinals chirping every day, but most of the time I don't see where the chirping is coming from.

I've had cardinals in my back yard during the warm months for several years now

they nest in my plum trees

perfect camouflage for them :)

I saw a hermaphrodite cardinal in my bush this year it wasn't a female and it wasn't a male very odd! You know what I so not see a single one of in Chicago are Blue Jays! Sparrows, robins, crows, ravens a plenty but narry a Blue Jay in sight!

I was going to answer, "Glendale, Arizona, and they're having a really good season."

But it isn't the season for snideness. And I love seeing those red birds flying around, too.

For some time, now, I've been seeing/hearing complaints about how small Buffalo style wings are getting.
