  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Where are you on the global fat scale?

I think I have special needs. Just realised I'd neglected to put the decimal point in my height - so it thought I was 176 metres rather than 1.76 metres.

I'm Cuban now and not a giant. Still living on less than $5AU a day though.

I don't think it's possible for a living human to have a zero BMI, Mr. Vegas.

I typed in 168 meters instead of 1.68. Guess I am a bit of goose.

glasvegas, you must have posted that just as I posted my post. Now it makes more sense.

I would imagine... BMI is tricky because it could give the same BMI for a weight lifter or an obese person since it is simply height weight...

Last December I did actual measured Bf % with calipers at the gym I was at 12%.. so yeah more muscle than fat but unfortunately I have been working so much lately I am sure I have headed the other way a bit......

Still it is amazing that at my height weight i am still less than 3/4's of this country....

12% is great! I think when I did at the age of 22 I was at about 20% but it may have been more like 25%. I don't remember.

Well i oscillate between 12 when I am working towards endurance and 19 when I am looking to gain muscle. The two processes are mutually exclusive really. I predominately work towards muscle maintenance now as I am getting older. After 35 you can atrophy and that is what typically leads 60+ into having odd posture and walking gaits...

I have a goal on my bucket list a goal of running the Badwater Ultimate Marathon in death valley... I dunno if I will ever do it but if I work up to it then I will probably drop down to barely healthy Bf of 5 to 7%....

I'm comprised of 7.8 % body fat at last calculation. I think most of it is in my ass.

I don't like the BMI, it doesn't account for weight from muscle. I have a BMI of 23 and am 85% under the average for the USA. I just did a fat % count at the gym like a week ago and it was at 6%.

Lol, I have no clue what any of this means! :P

Figured it out...obviously that site was coded by some who f--ked it up / didn't test on other browsers...

After I clicked 'view' .. 'page style' .. 'no style' (one of the best 'features' of Firefox since it lets you see stuff hidden by poorly coded websites) I could then see the numbers

The "where you're from thing" is realted to the graph below. There's an orange line for your bmi, and you can follow that down to the country where the average bmi is closest. The other vertical line is the global average for your age group.

Eritrea is at the bottom, so if your bmi is out of range for your age group, you probably get lumped in there.

im huge, i'll just leave it at that lmao. ill admit i picked up quite a bit of bmi this past year though.
