My boyfriend got his dog from an animal shelter and she is the best dog ive ever met.

My stepfather got a German Shepherd Dog from the wife of a friend who was going insane. She wanted to get the animals out of the house to remove complications with his growing madness. Not long after he killed himself.

We may have given that puppy extra love and attention to compensate for a troubled earlier life, but for whatever reason he was the most friendly, gregarious dog we'd ever seen. Just as well that a very powerful 130-pound dog is gentle and outgoing.

My roommate's cousin had a bunch of kittens roaming around their place so I decided to grab one.

Love him to death. He was recently diagnosed with feline hyperesthesia.

from a hobbyist breeder. (you don't get amphibians from a rescue center ;) )

My Moose was rescued by my sister - I got him the day after my Gator died. He's the best beagle and something else mix. And I recently got a stray a friend found. Two great dogs.

Three of our cats got us. They all turned up on our doorstep at the farm. Two are gingers and one is a tabby with white underbelly. She is deaf and is missing part of her cerebellum.

Nikki was dropped off at our vet's barn; he's the 23 pounder Russian Blue.

The other is our 18 year old Red English tabby. We got her and her brother from a friend.

If we die, they end up richer than anyone else in the bequest list.

My adorable ball of fur I got from an acquaintance who was (at the time, his plans eventually changed) moving out of the country. He had gotten him from some lady that found him as a kitten in a dumpster :(

His history kinda explains a lot about him. He's extremely shy yet still craves attention. He's extremely skinny which I think is mostly because he's nervous all the time. He's also a total primadonna, always makes sure to stand in the most regal positions he can think of and meows pathetically when something doesn't go his way (like if someone closes the bathroom door for a few minutes).

He's been my little idiot for over a year now and I love him to bits ^_^

He was always very helpful when I was studying for my Statistics finals.

And just 'cause it's adorable.

I got my dog from a friend. Her dog had a new litter (3 died and 5 survived). She was giving her puppies away.

An elderly lady, I think she was 93, had him as her pet. She wanted to get rid of him because he hung out around her legs. She was afraid he would cause her to fall. So, I took him.

I rescued Boots (right) from the streets when I saw her eating the day-old bread I threw out for the birds. I started feeding her and she adopted me. I, however, adopted one of her babies, Samwise (left). Her brother, Pippin, and sisters, Merry and Frodo were adopted out through a rescue shelter.

I see that your cats like to do the ironing too.

I started trapping some of the feral cats that lived in the alley behind my apartment and ended up keeping two of them. They were kittens when I caught them and are now completely tame.

My cat adopted me when I visited an animal shelter 15 years ago. He's a loving sweet cat. My dog was also adopted from an animal shelter, about 7 years ago.

They're wonderful animals.

ASSume nothing.......it makes an ASS out of U and ME

Mine showed up, a starving stray I felt sorry for, and started feeding. After a few days, he'd be sitting in my parking space, waiting for me when I got home from work!

A few days after that, he decided to adopt me, and moved in. :D He's been spoiled, and basically in charge ever since.

I named him "Salem", since he talks so damn much. :)
