Where did you meet your best friend(s)?

Work?
Childhood friend?
School?
Sex Orgy?

I had a best friend that I grew up with and had known for 14 years, but when I came out he told me he was sorry I made that choice and i've yet to speak to him again in nearly 7 years.

My two best friends now... one I met on myspace and the other I met on a now deceased role-playing/gamer site I used to frequent; known them - both male, one gay and one straight - for 5 and 6 years, respectfully. Wouldn't trade either for the world.

Interesting tidbit - despite always being overtly male over the net(or so I think anyway), my best (straight) friend thought because of my nondescript username that I might be a female at first. Maybe it was the (obnoxious) fact that I typed in pink at random too.

Everybody here already knows that I'm a massive nerd, so what the hell...

Online gaming.

We played in the same league, in different teams. We'd always joke around through PM when scrimming against each other, and eventually decided to form our own team (it was only for fun, but we actually ended up receiving sponsorship ).

When scrimming, your team uses a voice communication program. After matches, the rest of the team would leave and do their own thing, but we would just hang around chatting to each other. For some reason, our friendship quickly progressed and we talked to each other about things we felt we couldn't tell any of our other friends (I actually spoke to him about my attraction to men before I really knew I was gay).

He only lived twenty minutes away from me, so we started to hang out, and after I came out and all of my other friends rejected me, he continued to support me and our friendship bonded further and grew stronger.

Quite an interesting, and unexpected place to meet someone that would have such a profound impact on my life.

I had a best friend growing up all the way until I was 20 years old. We were both gay and I lost my virginity to him. As we grew older though we just started seeing less of each other until we grew apart. There are times I do miss him though, but have no way of contacting him. :(

In my 20's I had this girl best friend that I meet at work. We were really closed but then the bitch got married and she just stop coming by. It was like she disappear from this world. I'm still kind of upset about it.

I gave him his first job

he was the love of my life

he's gone now

Funny...my best friend and I met in 9th grade. We were part of the same group friends who hung out together each day because we had similar classes and schedules.

Jimmie and I have remained friends for 33 years. Turns out we were both gay, but we never had any designs on each other. My first love was my beautiful Vincent, who was somewhat of a loner at school (Vincent and I were friends through our parents).

Jimmie has been there through my slut puppy days, and through the golden days with Dave. And he is still there.

He has a long time boyfriend of his own (19 years together), and they are an awesome couple.

10th grade science class. The teacher had us mark a quiz we just took, and we got some from the bottom of the barrel. We bonded over laughing at the most stupefying answers ever.

Q: How does an amoeba move?
A: An amoeba moves through a kingdom called Protista.

I met them in gradeschool. Pretty much grew apart from those dudes.

Haven't really bothered to make any close friends since highschool.

The extent of my social life revolves around work.

I'm awesome..

My current best friend - actually from a gay hook-up site. But we never hooked up.

I had a best friend from birth to into my 20s, he passed from HIV when we were both age 27. I met my current best friend of 30 years (yes, there was overlap, you can have more than one best friend at a time...) in community college when we were about 20. I am 50 now and he is 49, and I feel very blessed he has been a significant part of my life. A pity his boyfriend of several years doesn't like me...some underlying jealousy, I fear.

My best friends are all from college, online or from work. I find that I can make and keep good friends easily when they're people with whom I share common interests (graphic design in my case :D ). I rarely speak to my friends from childhood or even high school, and I graduated in 2008.

All of my closest friends are also more than ~10 years older than me, so it's kind of awkward when we hang out with their other friends. haha!

i met my "best" friend in middle school some 15 years ago. we sorta drifted apart since im a hardcore lib and hes a re-born christian?

I met my closest friend in primary school (Year 2) and we've known each other ever since.

However we have drifted slightly apart since university days and now we only see each other occasionally, which is disappointing.

I also have other good friends through work.

We met in sophomore year of high school... she was dating a guy I knew, and he introduced us; during the conversation it turned out that I had a locker and she didn't, so we started sharing, and then started having lunch together, and the rest is history.

We haven't been best friends all this time (27 years), I had other best friends, and we grew apart during our college years when she was in a demented relationship; but about ten years ago, our lives were such that we were spending a lot of time together, and we just grew together and became very close. My family refers to her as my significant other.

I think the success of our relationship lies in our ability to accept each other as-is-while encouraging each other to improve; also that we're yin-and-yang in a lot of ways but have enough things in common that we're seldom at odds.

My best friend I met in 3rd grade. We are still close and we're in our mid 50's now. He's straight. Other "best" friends I met in middle school, high school, college and church. I still have a lot of childhood friends. My best gay friends I met at a house parties and another at a gay bar.

All my friends know each other.

My best friend I met in my fourth grade at school... she was a sweet girl that grown up into a sweet pretty woman... I'm often very proud of her.

We studied together through all junior and senior schools and also high school... we drifted apart when she decided going for Portuguese Language and Literature and i started the preparatory for college entry exams (i didnt pass at first) i met a guy in the prep course that i knew he was gay and we became really good friends, but then he introduced me to Marcelo, which is now one of my best friends ever, also...

I continue being friends with Diego (who introduced me with Marcelo) and also have met some very good people online that came to be my friends later on.

As of now, I'm in another country and my best friends are from my volunteer work here, mainly my boss... though I didn't tell her I'm gay, and another friend that works with me and that her family has "adopted me" as their 4th kid. They know I'm gay and they accept me and I love them very much!

That's it ;)
