Where do you find a guy?

I want to find a guy to hang out with but to be honest, aside from the internet, I've never met a guy. The only guys I've met were for casual sex, but I think I'm actually past all that and want more of a friend and if it leads to more, I'd go along with it.

The thing is, I'm not 100% comfortable enough to go to a gay bar. I don't know anyone who's gay and wouldn't want to go by myself. Where can I meet a guy on my level, who isn't too experienced with this whole gay thing? I mean, the internet is mostly for hookups.

I put an ad up for craigslist saying what I'm looking for but I know most people go on there for just sex but decided to give it a shot.

Because people don't reply to ads without pics most of the time and even though it's just for a friendship i'd rather know what the person looks like before meeting.

are you in college? if so have you checked to see if there are any gay groups? i think if you find yourself a neutral, non-hook up situation you will find someone you can converse with.

Do you have any specific interests. They may be gay clubs in your area that invove activities that you are intersted in. For example, the Los Angeles area had a gay club for just about everything. If there is not one, start one. I'm sure that there will be others that will be interested as well.
