until my bro moved in about a year ago, i was single living in a 4 bedroom house......

the 2 cats have a 1/2 bathroom to themselves off of the bedroom used for storage---stacked floor to ceiling in boxes and stuff....i'm sure they enjoy playing in there....

out of sight....away from the rest of the house

if my dog is inside too long and needs to pee....he'll spray in the cat pan......honest.......he doesn't do it often..... but it makes a mess......but at least he's trying....lol

Where do you keep your cat's litter box? And why? :-)

The screened in back porch. We have a doggy/kitty door from the house out back. They can go in/out as they wish. To answer your second question....it stinks!

I have a 2-story house. One full bathroom upstairs, one full bathroom in the master bedroom downstairs and half bath (powder room) near the foyer downstairs. The powder room is the designated "cat's bathroom".

I did not want to be running upstairs to check the litterbox and carry litter through the house and I don't want it in the master bath (my bedroom). The powder room is perfect for her and easy cleanup.

Used to keep it in a corner of the kitchen, but trained her to go outside fairly quickly, emptying the tray all the time is a pain.

My cat has gone on to kitty-heaven, but when he was here, the box was in the utility room. I had one of those 'covered' boxes. I would use the cheap litter; an entire bag (10lbs) and change it weekly. Screw those 'clumping' brands! It's enough to have to change and wash the damn thing. I'm not gonna pick out his poops and pee clusters. And I never had a smelly utility room!

In the rear corner of the spare bedroom (AKA 'the computer room', 'the office', 'the junk room', 'the gift wrapping room', 'the ironing room'...)

Even though it's all the way down the hall, I can still here him in it when he decides to go digging for China in it at 4am...

Folks, those of you with kitties....

Even though I love animals, I detest the smell of cat piss/do do when I visit my friends....

Be careful where you place the litter box, and don't put it near where food is being prepared or in plain site where a visitor will realize right off that you have a cat with a poop box in plain site....

Those of you who love your cats should also realize that you house smells bad, if you don't do something to aleviate the smell...

Seriously, it's a real turn-off, so think about it and make your home more cat-friendly for people who visit and don't sit around smelling kitty poop!

NO, I love animals; but I hate poop smells in my house!(*8*)(*8*):kiss:

in the bathroom of course. and please don't keep it in the kitchen or dining room, piggy

In the laundry room in the basement is where our guy's are.
I never smell them but my partner changes them and stuff.

Keeping your cats litter box in the same place the cat eats can cause the cat to seek other locations to relieve itself.
Cats, do tend to try quite hard to keep the two activities separate.
Generally the bathroom is the best place for a litter box.

Another vote for the bathroom (lacking a utility room space). Cats don't like to be on "display" anymore than the average human when relieving themselves (I said average human 'cause I know SOME humans do enjoy the attention!).

My kitty has her own bathroom. There are 4 in this house. One for me. One for my hubby. One for the cat and one for guests.
