she has a pretty amazing CV. plus isn't she the provost of stanford? plus she sits on the board of 5 or so major corporations. she was probably the most competent and capable member of the bush administration. (in my opinion of course... i'm not american)

The mayor of New Orleans was certainly incompotent when it came to evacuating the citizens of the city before Hurricane Katrina struck. For example, he could have used the city's school buses to evacuate the sick and elderly as well as those who had no means of transportation to leave the city.

He also had ample warning to stablize the levees around the city since experts had warned for years that it was a matter of time before a major storm surge would flood the city.

But he didn't.

What did she ever do that was so great? I keep hearing that "dr. Rice" was so damn "intelligent", but never what it was she did during the Bush administration that was so smart.

I'm sure she's clever, but what did she ever achieve for the nation?

like i said, i'm not american, so i wouldn't be as exposed to the nuances of her achievements when she was in public service. all i know is she's a supremely capable and intelligent woman. this is her quickie bio from wiki.

If you disregard that she's 'a woman' and 'black' and cut through the froth, what did she do that dozens of other politicians wouldn't have achieved?

I liked Madeline Albright much better. (Not that she got very far with the Palestinians either).
