I think most of us have a reasonable expectation of that, from those who have been here a long time. We know who the fakers, jokers, and trolls are, and we know the no nonsense honest Jubbers.

I mostly agree. There have been a lot of members that, for whatever reason, just left with no big dramatic fanfare or at least telling someone they're going....we go on and just post about them in the People You Miss Seeing Here thread. Sometimes they pop in for a quick Hello. For myself, if I'm not seen again, I'm probably dead (as if anyone would notice.)

My pov on this mystery, a month or so since his disappearance, is that he better have a damn good excuse for not letting a select few people here, that he is really close to, privately know that he was leaving or taking a break. I'm actually surprised that they have no means to contact each other than online...they seemed really close. Even if his computer took a puke, he has to have a phone with internet access still...right? In this day and age, who doesn't?

It doesn't make a big difference to me as we've never been close, although I've enjoyed some of his contributions, but there are a few members that seem to be generally concerned. So, it better be serious or I just think his departure is rude.

This thread has certainly changed my opinion on a lot of the posters on JUB. Very telling on how they act in the real world.

Cormac has been gone for a month today. People seem to be ignoring, dismissing, or even hostile to the real possibility that something may have actually happened to him. I'm not going to speculate on what those possibilities might be. It is possible, sure, that he may have decided to just walk away and say nothing, but to me, that doesn't feel realistic given his long-standing prominence on JUB. Cormac made several of his usual posts on 2/5, he made one on 2/6, his last logon was 2/8. That's not normal for him based on his previous activity. There is no reason he would say anything to me, but if he were taking an intentional, planned break or exit, it seems like he would have said something to those he communicated with privately. So I'm actually concerned, even worried, for his health and well-being. That's why I started this thread. Is there something wrong with that? I know some of you will think I'm a sucker or a fool. Maybe I am. But I don't apologize for caring about the safety of another person. If you are going to comment, please stay on topic, which is "Where is Cormac?". I hope you're OK, Cormac. Please be well.

Having been to eight JUB meets, one of them being the hyper-informal and barely known second New York City one in the 2010s, along with my travels, it's probable I've met more JUB-bers in person than anybody else. I estimate that I've met about eighty JUB-bers at one time or another, including some while traveling, who never went to any of the Meets.

More than not, the real-life personas are a close match to the personalities here. Some of these meetings continue as friendships to this day, and there's a few who I've phone-talked with and certainly hope to meet someday

Then there are of course some people here who are a complete enigma, wrapped up in a puzzle inside a paradox (or however the saying goes - who was that, Churchill?). I must admit that Cormac is a rather mysterious persona, with kindness obviously in the mix. I've learned from this thread that he's been the first PM contact for a number of notable people in here, who were contacted by him when they were still newbies wending their way through the alleys, rabbit holes, plazas, woodlands, and skyscrapers of this site.

In the 16+ years I've been in here, I've never stopped feeling fortunate for having found this site.

I feel love and best wishes for ALL of you, but I think you knew that already.
