"Conservatives would love to see Dick Cheney be more vocal," said S.E. Cupp, a conservative blogger and co-author of the book "Why You're Wrong about the Right." "But at the same time, he's not an idiot and neither are conservatives. He realizes that while that might energize the conservative base, that might not win over many independents who have a very bitter taste in their mouth from the Bush administration."

And it shows in the polls.

A USA Today/Gallup Poll in early September found that 71 percent said Bush should get blame for the country's economic troubles. A CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll taken at the same time indicated that 53 percent blamed Bush and Republicans for causing the current economic conditions, while 33 percent blamed President Obama and Democrats.

Nothing like having to hide your leaders to win an election...lol

hell, the dems have the clintons, the obamas and the carters out there pulling the weight.

but they want to go back to their policies, right?

You're right, neither Bush nor Cheney are hitting the campaign trail, because nobody wants them. You're 100% right about that.

Obama is what's pulling the dems into the toilet, or had you not noticed?

The democrats with rare exception, are running away from Obama. They aren't crowing about health care or how swell things are in the economy, because they aren't. In fact at least one is bragging about having supported Bush, of all people.

Clinton correctly identified people in his party as a bunch of pinatas taking a beating from the republicans. He's at least entertaining to listen to. Of course he lost the majority in '94 because of health care and the assault weapon bill. He at least speaks from experience.

Obama is out there on the trail promoting his beliefs and his agenda.

he isn't hiding in an undisclosed location with undisclosed corporate money.

Are Democrats even running on any of their "accomplishments" this election? There only platform has been bash Bush. Thankfully that strategy isn't swaying Independents.

I've seen numerous television ads from Democratic Congressmen especially, in which they dedicated half the ad to persuading the viewers that they didn't vote for the Obama/Pelosi agenda.

bullshit

pure and simple bullshit.

No, he has undisclosed union money to spend. Just like in 2008. Short memory, BP?

Obama is out there working for his cause and bush and cheney, the cowards they are, only pop their heads out of their asses when their corporate masters snap their leash.

Granted. So, what's the end result? Obam is going to have his policies repudiated, and lose control of at least one chamber of Congress to a party that has a 26% approval rating. That something you really want to crow about??

the repubs are sliding in the polls right now and it is unclear who will win. You can save the old republican victory party hat for a little longer, jack.

and the party has a 26 percent aproval rating>? really? where is that poll ya got yerself there? where are the republicans on it?

care to share a link or is this just a guess?

The Dems are NOT going to lose the house.

Here's the poll showing the republicans at between 20-30% approval rating. Why did you think they'd be higher?

http://www.pollingreport.com/cong_rep.htm

Keep whistling past the graveyard, BP.

that leads to a report that shows the republican disaproval ratings are in the 60's

I love it jack.

BTW... thanks for having a conversation as a conservative on issues, instead of throwing bombs and running. I have noticed, and it's cool!

As vile as Dick Cheney is, I'm sure it's his health situation that's keeping him at home. His health is pretty fragile. However, he has his repulsive daughter Liz barking out his thoughts for him.

As for George W Bush...... if YOU were running for office would you want him around? He's an embarrassment, even for the Republicans. I'm amazed why anyone would want to "change it back" to his failed policies.

Bill Clinton is hitting the road for Democrats and everyone loves him. President Obama is busily campaigning for Democrats also.

The smug confidence Republicans had in the past few weeks is fading now as the race is tighter. They're not so sure of themselves lately and it's understandable.

they need 48 seats. where are they? the dems only took the house with 30 and they did it when bush's poll numbers were in the 30's.

it is a numbers thing. I am an economist, not a political science guy.

i look at numbers and trends all the time.

Where is the big shift in that going to come from?

I think you and Nancy are the only ones in the country saying that, and I'm pretty sure that even Pelosi doesn't really believe it when she says it.

Even George Soros doesn't believe it!

They need 39, actually.

I always get beat up when I stick my head in here but that remark about

losing houses.......

I want to point out that Democrats, Republicans, Independents and a shit

load of other people are already losing their houses.

Thats all...just food for thought.

Here, I'll save you the trouble...:jab::jab::jab:...*wave*

You're right about Cheney. I saw a clip of him at some event or other last week. He looked pretty frail.

And no, I wouldn't want Bush around me if I was running for office as a republican. In fact, I most likely wouldn't want him sitting next to me in a bar.

Clinton has brought some focus to the campaign that has been lacking. I was actually in agreement with him about the democrats lack of message. They've been on defense since day one. You can't fault him as a campaigner.

Oddly enough, everybody's favorite crazy uncle, Joe Biden gets a pretty good reception despite his numerous gaffes. He's got the delivery of a used car salesman. Slick and slimy, but it seems to sell.

My prediction is that Cheney will die of heart failure within the next 36 to 48 months. His last procedure he had usually last the average male about 60 months, and that was almost a year ago I believe.

Unfortunately, his daughter Lezzy continues to ooze under the door at FAUX News studios and finger-bang her gaping hole she calls a mouth but her husband calls her ass. There's something to be said for Gomorrahic activity when dealing with shills and shrills.

G.W. Bush in my opinion, seems content to sit on his ass doing nothing at his "ranch", while getting blasted drunk on Maker's Mark & ginger by 3:30 every day.

He'll belch up every once in awhile from now on to give a speech or fart out a book.
