If you could live anywhere in the world, what city would you choose and why?

I've been to London and Paris, and as cliche as it may be, I'd love to live in either city. Of course, I'd never be able to afford it! #-o
I really liked the few German cities I've been to as well. London held a lot of good memories, and I like the UK overall. I guess it's a case of the grass is always greener on the other side!

Without all the x-factors - about five miles from here.

I have very little first-hand experience outside the U.S. and Canada, so my experienced preferences are more or less limited to there. Other than Mexican border cities, 4 days in Nassau and 8 days in Europe - almost all of it close to 20 years ago (and prior to that) - my outside experience is indeed negligible.

However, once I've factored in climate as well, nearly all the places that appeal to me the most are in the Northwest, starting at northern California and extending into metropolitan Vancouver.

My "educated" preferences would also include some places in Australia and New Zealand. I definitely prefer to be in a place which has English as its prevailing language.

I don't know where I'd like to live exactly.

I'd like to live in a quiet place on the beach. Somewhere relaxing and with nice weather.

Cairns, far north Queensland, Australia. Where I live. Not too big, not too small. Right between the rainforest and the great barrier reef.

Tropical, clement weather, lots of tourists, very multicultural.

If I could I would have places in, Maui, New York, Miami, Los Angeles.Thats all.

After you finish studying, get a visum and a bag of money, and simply move to where you'd like to be. If you can't find a room, there are always cheap pensions where you can live until you find something else.

Don't put it off, because -apart from you getting older and wiser- it's unlikely to get any easier if you waste your time waiting.

I moved to South Florida last summer. There is nowhere else that I would want to live. What a beautiful winter. The great part of the summers here is that the water in the ocean is warm and beautiful.

I've done quite a bit of traveling and internationally i'd love to live in either Paris or Sydney.

In the USA I would have to say either Atlanta or Washington DC.

Buenos Aires is really good.
But, that said, with a modicum of diversity, IF you are with someone whom you love and you know loves you, it's amazing how where it is can start to fade out - with a few limitations
ding

i have my sights set on fort lauderdale florida right now. i went there for vacation last year and fell in love with it. i've travelled around my fair share. when i was young i dreamt of living in paris or florence. now that i'm older and more realistic, i think fort lauderdale will suit me just fine. at least i can be out of the cccccold winters!

i want to travel the world so i dont wanna stick in some place... unless i find someone I guess lol

Syria is a dangerous place.

No it isn't. I've spent a year there and it was teh best year of my life... Mostly because it was 11+1 months of holidays, really, despite "learning" there. Of course, there's the antisemitism, but it's sort of understood, and mostly it's extremly funny. There's militarism in words sometimes, but if you see syrian army, you will funny as well, anyway Syrians in general were panic-striken during the war in Lebanon...
It's not as developed as Europe, but at least it's cheaper, and, again, funny sometimes.
A lot of people try to con You, being a - presumably wealthy - agnabi, but it's funny to remember after some time. I wuv Syria.

BTW irydion, if you're in Paris ATM, maybe you have some tips for the OP?

Who/what is OP?

No, I have no tips. Don't know anything, don't know anyone, I am thinking of posting a desperate thread somewhere in the "introduce yourself" section to gain some french-speaking people to talk to me, correspond with me or whatever, so that I would start speaking french well...
