Where You Live - Part II

I live approximately 12 miles from the hospital where I was born.

Unfortunately, that hospital is now closed due to health care company consolidations.

Nope. I was born in "God's waiting room" and have lived hundreds of miles as far west ever since I returned to the states.

As I understand it was very active with American military personnel prior to the fall of the Berlin Wall.

For the time being, I currently am living about a 10 minute slow walk from the hospital in which I was born.

At the time, it was the 'New' hospital.

Because of expansions and renovations in the 90's and 2000's, the only part of the 'New' hospital left is what was then the Maternity wing, which in the 80's was converted to the Psych ward.

The Psych ward closed last year and is currently unoccupied.

I suspect the last part of the 'New' hospital is slated for demolition in the near future.

I am also living within a 5 minute walk of the burial place of my Father, my paternal Grandparents, my paternal Great-Grandparents (all 4). There's a couple before that, too (Grandma's grandparents on her Mom's side).

From the town I was born in to where I have live now is exactly 62 miles as the crow flies - however a minimum of 124 miles by car (ironically twice the distance! lol)...

Well, I was actually born 108 miles (according to Google Maps) from here, at Fort Ord Army Base; but both my parents were born and grew up here, and except for two years in Twain Harte (in the Sierras), I've lived within fifty miles of here ever since Daddy got out of the Army a few months after I was born. I have no plans to live anywhere else.
