Jesse and Al are having a drink over at Club Irrelevant, about now. Commiserating about how important they used to be.

JustMe

Get your head outa the sand you silly boy.
Don'tcha know it is OK for blacks to call blacks the N word ?

BO says so in his speeches.... " Just Words" "Just Speeches"
"Just Hope"

And Jack ,,,

J.J. wants to cut the nuts of that "N" , Because the "N" has made them ( JJ & Al ) 2nd tier wanta-bes !

Oh ! and lets add Chucky Rangle in the same picture

I, too, was wondering where Sharpton's outrage was.

As to his whereabouts, I can't say, but he was on FOX News in May, and said that he and Obama talk on the phone 2-3 times a week.

Perhaps Sharpton is begging for an assignment to make himself relevant again.

Just words , speeches Not even his.
I should clear my self..
No he never meant the N word,,,,,My point was words are just words............

ya know, it's just a word.

they're monitoring IMUS - that's what they're doin

heard there was a "to do" on The View today

discussed how it's ok for a black person to say n%^$#@ but not ok for a white person

this is kinda accepted now

this whole i can say it - but u can't

too fuckin funny

no one should say it

and i love how people r ripping fox for airing jesse's rant

imagine if jmac said n%$#@&

can't imagine it would have been withheld

can't

re the view on thursday july 17-
i am a big whoopi fan...have been for years.
i never agree with elisabeth on anything...she strikes me as a brain-dead, insincere, conservative republican.
but this time i have to agree with her. whoopi was wrong and was bleeped. it is too hypocritical...imus says "nappy headed hoes" and loses his job! but whoopi can first say the word and then can berate elisabeth with statements like=" no elisabeth you don't understand and will never understand what it is like to be a black person in america!" well whoopi- "you can't understand and will never understand what it is like to be a white person who never had a black slave, has been against racism all their life and still are supposed to accept this hypocrisy"
oprah dealt with this topic a while back and i'll give her a round of applause also. she put her foot down and told her guests"as far as i'm concerned its wrong everytime the word is used regardless of who is using it"

Then stop asking whites to take the n-word so seriously ourselves! It's inherently racist and bigoted to assume one race can use the term affectionately and another by virtue of their color cannot. It's the double-standard with racism that is so mind-blowing to me. Imus shouldn't have been fired. If P-puffy Doodle Whoever can talk about all his ho's and his nigga posse then damnit stop bitching about Imus! This is why "racist" means NOTHING to me. I never owned a slave, I don't give a fuck what color you are, and I damn sure refuse to be treated as if I have to kiss anyone's ass regarding race! I'm tired of white on black racism being the ONLY definition of racism. There is a double-standard and when a black person says things like this it's fucking bigoted and racist! :grrr:

Bravo on all counts! :=D:

There are too many people labeling too many people, things and statements racist without fully understanding their own contribution to the problem.

As a person of colour, I personally would not use the word in question. I am not offended by the word, because I believe it demonstrates the ignorance of the person using it more than anything about me. But I do believe that it denigrates blacks when they use a term that was meant to denigrate them in the first place. It makes no sense. Just as I hate when gays call themselves queer or Mary. It just does not make sense to adopt for yourself the tools of your tormentors.

"i can say it but u can't"

i guess is the attitude

LOFL

Why should Al Sharpton get in the middle of a fight (between two people on the same side) that was over before it was even started? Jesse Jackson didn't even wait for the broadcast before he extended an apology. The apology was accepted. End of story.

^ hardly end of story

it's a big story

and BO did the whole speech (post wright) about race relations

this is a subset

There's no story here.

Jesse Jackson made some awful comments about Sen. Obama because he was displeased with the substance and setting of one of Obama's speeches. He was embarrassed. He apologized before the comments were even made public. Sen. Obama forgave him. Now Al Sharpton, who likes both of them, refuses to perpetuate a fight that was over before it started. This is news? It sounds to me like everybody is acting like regular people.

So Al Sharpton will only accuse people he does not like of racism.

If he likes you, you have a free pass.

Interesting....

I think it is similar to this forum in many respects. Certain posters will only start threads that attack black leaders or will only post in other threads in order to attack black leaders or other posters who decry racism, and will only get upset when you mention, say, whites and racism.

Whites, they believe, have a free pass.

Interesting....

Fascinating how it takes only few trolls to drag down an entire discourse. I completely understand why many view the CE&P as the "Jerry Springer" forum.

When the facts are true, your only choice is

Attack the messenger.

Where does Jackson's use of the word become "racism"? It is his understanding and the understanding of many black people that when they use that word amongst themselves it is OK. I disagree with this, but it is the premise used by Jackson and Sharpton apparently understands that.

I believe the real issue here is how many people around here just wish they could use the word and are jealous that Jesse Jackson can get away with it and they can't.

I am certain that when in private amongst like minded folk, those of you who must will be able and more than willing to get it out of your systems as often as possible, so not to worry...

Your reference to Al Sharpton's "posse" is very revealing...

I don't know that one can reasonably describe Bob Ray Sanders as part of "Rev. Al Sharpton's posse," but he saw a story where I saw none. He doesn't mention Sharpton anywhere in his op-ed, but he did take the time to express his opinion of Jesse Jackson.

Here's his lead.

Would somebody please tell Jesse Jackson to go somewhere — anywhere — and sit down?

And, while you’re at it, pass along the admonishment delivered by the background singers in Isaac Hayes’ hit movie theme song from Shaft when their well-timed lyric bleeped an offensive word with the refrain:

"Shut yo’ mouth!"
