Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

The 'Boro v Newcastle game is on Setanta shortly. I really hope 'Boro win...|

Then it's the game of the w/end at OT on Sky: ManUtd v Spurs. A crucial game for both teams and both managers.

The nation would rejoice if Spurs win. ManUtd, however, are unlikely to give the nation what it wants.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

thnk fuk for that, if we didnt win today, i dno what id hav done.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Good performance from Spurs at OT. They were unlucky not to get at least a point.

A right battle at Boro, and Viduka scores against his former employers. Good goal too.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Sounds like Spurs were robbed by a couple of penalty decisions, but the only way to know is MotD - which is starting now. EDIT: Hm, the penalty looked... far too debatable, really. I wouldn't have given it, simply because it was a very shaky claim. Not easy to disprove, but the benefit of the doubt usually goes to the defence. But geez... how good was Berbatov? As always.

Good stuff from Boro, I'm pleased that we're able to score a couple of goals. Mido could be a right cult hero. Apparently, he parks with the fans, too.

Liverpool for the Title. They have a superb shot saving keeper...their back 4 of Riise, Carra, Agger, Finnan is rock solid....their midfield of Mascherano, Gerrard, Alonso and Babel is very skilful...then theres Torres upfront who judging by what ive seen so far is gonna be a major star.

I was never sold on Mido, either at Tottenham or at Ajax. Hopefully he comes right, though, with Aliadiere and Boro have a good season.

Penalty was very iffy - not sure I'd have given it either. I heard from a (die-hard Liverpool) mate that there have only been 7 penalties awarded to the away side in 14 seasons at Old Trafford - can anyone confirm?

Well, apparently Aliadiere was good, raising hell for the Newcastle defence. Oddly enough, my brother thinks Aliadiere is stalking him - the last two times he's gone into a restaurant, Aliadiere has turned up straight afterwards.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

^And your brother believes this is a bad thing why...?

Just as well I'm not up where you are, or I suspect Aliadiere would have me nicked for stalking him. I can see my defence now: "Well, yes I did, m'lord, but... look how beautiful he is!"

Oh, he doesn't. It's just a bit odd.

Apparently, he wears a silly hood/hat-type-thing. My brother and his girlfriend gave him quite a funny look before he realised who it was.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Boro seem to have bought another Egyptian, called Mohamed Shawky. He'll undoubtedly get a work permit, since he's pretty much the first name on the Egypt team sheet, and I reckon it'll do Mido good to have another Egyptian around. Actually Mido'll probably help the other guy settle into England, too.

We're getting him for apparently $500,000US according to the BBC, so that's about £0.25m, which is a good deal, considering.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Slighty OT:

Man City 2 - 1 Bristol City
The mighty Boro 2 - 0 Northampton
Arsenal 3(5) - 0(0) Sparta Prague
Celtic 1(2) - 1(2) Spartak Moscow: Celtic win 4-3 on penalties.
Newcastle 2 - 0 Barnsley.

Boro's performance seemed pretty good, and a cracker of a free-kick (Colin Cooper: "What's he doing that for, he's never gonna score from there!") from Fabio Rochemback, and a good finish from Dong-Gook Lee, finally getting a goal for Boro. Rocky ran straight past Colin, pointing and laughing at him.

Again, Mido made himself more of a fan favourite - he started on the bench. Twenty minutes from the end Southgate was subbing on Boateng. Mido immediately turned to Southgate and wagged his finger, as if to say 'If you bring him on, you're gonna do the same for me.' Southgate obliged, and fairly quickly Mido hit the bar with a header, forced an outstanding save from the keeper, and basically continued to make himself a Boro fan fave.

Greaves, was he like this with you?

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Man U will get it aigan this year they have had a crap start but when Rooney comes back just watch out

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Jacobim: Mido was very popular at WHL. Still is very warmly regarded by most Spurs' supporters.

There were 2 problems: (a) he hardly got a game last season, and (b) he can be dire as well as brilliant, often in the same game.

Let's see what a North East winter brings out of him.;)

So far, he just seems tohave totally the right attitude. He wants to play every minute he can, it seems.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

And a musical interlude to mark the end of the transfer window:

Though, as a Spurs fan, I hope I misheard the line "We're headed for Jenas.";)

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

What do you lot think of Gary O'Neil? Apparently, him and Shawky were Boro's last day deals. Hopefully we'll spend a little of the left over Yakubu cash during the window on a new keeper? Everything else seems sorted now...

Schwarzer
Young/Davies/McMahon
Taylor
Woodgate/Riggott
Pogatetz/Wheater/Huth

Downing/Johnson
Boateng/Cattermole
Arca/Rochemback
O'Neil/Johnson

Mido/Lee
Aliadiere/Tuncay

We're short on cover for Taylor and Schwarzer at the moment, although Ross Turnbull will be okay cover in a while. I hope we sell Brad Jones. I'd be much happier with someone else, he plays such a nervy game.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Boro will be playing Spurs at WHL later in September in the Carling Cup. That should be interesting.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Good result for Boro today. 2-0 in a game where it could've been five or six. Dong-Gook should've scored, Aliadiere was only kept out by a couple of decent Taylor saves, Mido could've had one or two, and we never actually looked like conceding. Everyone involved accepted that, including Steve Bruce, who almost looked like he'd been crying when they were doing the interviews. He certainly wasn't happy.

As for Tottenham... You can't afford mistakes like that very often. That will be a blow to confidence, because that's two points thrown away.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

I beginning to think this could be one of the most open and exciting Premiership seasons ever. I know it's early doors as yet. But some of the middle table teams look as if they are going to that much harder to beat.

As we saw today when Villa beat Chelsea.

Euro 08 takes centre stage now. Tho' England are playing a country that is not in Europe: Israel. It's a funny old game.;)
