Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership Thi

Saint George is the patron saint of the England AND Catalunya.

Who will slay the dragon tonite?

St Anthony is the patron saint of Portugal, famous for his "miracle of the fishes".

Could a deep sea diver ;) drown out the fire of the Spanish dragon?

We shall sea ;) tonite...

Vamos Barca!!!

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership Thi

Well the question posed in this thread's title will be answered this weekend.

Here is the table at present:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/table/default.stm

Chelsea v Bolton

Wigan v ManUtd

All Premiership matches kick off at 3.00 on Sunday.

Who will win the title? The odds are in favour of ManUtd because of their superior goal difference.

greaves is more interested in Spurs v Liverpool.

Whoever wins, I want the other team to win the Champions league. So basically, I don't give a damn so long as nobody wins the double. Luckily, your Tottenham grabbed the Carling cup away from Chelsea.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership Thi

And, of course, as S. Freud pointed out many years ago, the bottom is very interesting too.

So tight down there, it's difficult to predict which club will stay up.

Come Sunday evening, greaves thinks Reading will come out on top, and Fulham and Birmingham will go down.

We shall see...;)

You're probably right, but that'll be because of the last day opponents. If Reading played Pompey and Fulham played Derby, it might all be different. Steve Coppell seemed rather negative a while back but Hodgson and Fulham were more positive in the last few games. On that alone, it will be a pity to see them fall into the Championship.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership Thi

greaves does not normally comment on games in progress, but Steve Bennett, the referee at OT this afternoon, has been a disgrace, and probably, in the process, has handed the Premiership title to ManUtd.

Good to see Andy Gray on Sky speaking out, but of course Sky then went very quickly to a commercial break. Jamie Redknapp, sitting alongside Gray in the Sky studio, echoed his performances as a player: ie useless.

Info: Steve Bennett was the 4th official at the Spurs - Chelsea game last Wednesday. He admits he saw Cole's horrendous challenge on Hutton, but could not interfere as the referee, Mike Riley, had made a decision.

The game is over. Is Andy Gray in the Sky studio with Redknapp? No.

No wonder the majority of real football fans in the UK hate ManUtd.

Who is the referee today at Wigan v ManUtd on the deciding day of the Premiership?

What a surprise: it's Steve Bennett!!!

No need to watch the rest of this game. ManUtd have been handed the title by the referee. And it leaves, as usual with ManUtd, a nasty smell.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership Thi

Game over! What a day! 8-1 to Boro, Utd are champions, Bolton score in the last minute, and Fulham are safe for another season!

Now for Moscow. I am seriously going to have withdrawal pains for the summer, Euro 2008 notwithstanding...

An interesting site: http://www.rightresult.net/

Not particularly scientific, but 1000% better than your one eyed, still obsessed by little spurs missing out on goal at Old Trafford a million years a go, view of things.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership Thi

It does not matter which UK club you support, real football fans will respect you for doing so.

When you meet someone, here in London, who says they support ManUtd, you know they are complete football idiots.

They know nothing about football. Have never played the game. Have never been to Manchester, and have no idea where it is.

Steve Bennett knows where Manchester is!

And here is more.

http://www.football365.com/mailbox/story/0,17033,8744_3552510,00.html

There are thousands of threads like this about Steve Bennett. Go google.

He is probably more ridiculed and despised on the internet than so-called ManUtd "supporters".

As long as FIFA/UEFA refuse to use the decision-making technology that has been been employed by ALL other major sports for decades, then the stink of corruption - as we have seen in Italy - will remain.

Just one very simple example: every major sport now uses:

(A) an independent timekeeper.

(B) A 3rd/4th Official for controversial decisions.

In football as it at present, the only timekeeper is the referee - eg an idiot such as Steve Bennett.

In football as it at present, ALL officials, whether assistant referees, 4th officials etc can be over-ruled, and are over-ruled, by dickhead referees such as Steve Bennett.

My housemate's a Man City fan.

I've been trying not to rub it in all week so far.

Amazing. We'd not scored more than 2 in a game this season, then in the final game we have one of the biggest scores ever in the premiership, seemingly. Biggest win ever was Man Utd 9-0 Ipswich in the 90s, highest scoring match was Portsmouth 7-4 Reading.

8-1 is probably Boro's highest ever football league score. And we did it against Man City... Not too shabby!

Hat trick for Afonso. Next season looks bright.

We have, however, lost Fabio Rochemback. We let him go, actually, with Dong-Gook Lee and Gaizka Mendieta. Shame, really, considering Rocky's last goal for Boro (screamer of a free kick in the 8-1).

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership Thi

Avram Grant says referees handed the Premiership title to ManUtd.

His comments are covered by every newspaper here in the UK today. Here the London "Times".

Good to see a Premiership manager brave enough to speak out about this issue.

Steve Bennett has yet to comment. He's probably on holiday in Italy. :D

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership Thi

Haha, I think referees support the big clubs, not just Man Utd. And I don't really blame them. Would you give a penalty if you knew that Alex Ferguson was gonna try and drag your name through the mud for it?

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership Thi

Portsmouth have the odd record of being holders of the FA Cup for longer than any other club. 1939-1946.

Anyway, good to see them win it again today, tho' they probably won't hold on to it for quite so long this time! :=D::=D::=D:

Champions League Final on Weds. Difficult to call. ManUtd are certainly favourites to win. UEFA are being very secretive about who the referee will be! ;)

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership Thi

Yes - and given that a good friend of mine has always been a rabid Pompey fan...I shall no doubt hear nothing else from him for the next six months or so...;)

UEFA have decided on the referee for Weds CL Final:

Don't know much about Mr Michel, but the mention of Kim Milton Nielson in the text does not bode well. KMN was one of the worst referees ever to grace the world football stage.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership Thi

The referee for the final also refereed the Champs League 05 semi where Liverpool knocked out Chelsea through a dubious goal from Luis Garcia.

I think that Chelsea will not be hugely glad to see him refereeing this game. In fact, if Man Utd win, expect questions about his impartiality.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership Thi

Hm. Man Utd won. Bollocks.

Other news; When I first saw the pics of Joey Barton mooning I had to grudgingly concede he had quite a nice arse.

Now I think, for the next six months, there will be plenty of people to enjoy his arse.

:D
