I'm going to Syria this spring. And I simply love Italy, I have been in Rome and Palermo but there are so many places to go there. I love Romania also (very close for me), and I would like to see Istambul and Cyprus.

I've been very fortunate to have seen a lot of places, but there are still many I'd love to visit. The list is long.

There are so many places I want to see, mostly for the people, the sights and sounds, the culture and history, the food, the natural beauty, etc.

Right now, these are the places that top my list:

GL247, you might like visiting the heartland of the country, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Michoacán among other states, including Mexico City, especially because it would let you know a lot more about part of your heritage. :D

A lot of people make the mistake of only visiting border cities (especially Tijuana) and then dismiss the whole country. Border cities, and especially Tijuana are not representative of the rest of the country.

Another mistake many people do, is only visiting the coastal cities. Nothing wrong with that, as many are beautiful and the beach and stuff. But many of the old Colonial inland cities are really worth a visit.

i would very much like to visit mexico city as there is a great deal of architecture, museums to see... lots of culture! not to mention i think it would be fascinating to visit the mayan ruins. and i cannot discount the fact that i've got a friend in mexico city. :)

i want visit the U.S. mainly NYC and i would also like to go to Canada to see all the mountains and lakes

Yeah, sort of what I was sayin' in my post. The "nonrepresentative" border cities I have the most experience with are Tijuana, Cd. Juarez and Nuevo Laredo - probably the three worst cities to judge Mexico by. (I've also been to Matamoros, which felt SOMEWHAT more authentic, and to Piedras Negras which was very pleasant and which felt *very* "Mexican" to me.)

I've heard Puebla referred to as "the jewel of Mexico" once or twice, which is one reason I mention it prominently. Where in Mexico are you, Ankh?

As for Asia, I'd like to visit:

Japan(Took Japanese in high school, I love the culture)
China(Great Wall, hellO)
India(A friend I worked with at the movie theater and I agreed to see Bollywood films in India)
Thailand(I love the culture)
Russia(Just because)
Korea(My dad has been there and loved it)
Saudi Arabia(To visit Mecca. It probably wont happen in my lifetime, but a man can dream...)
Syria(Just because)
Laos(I have a few Hmong friends, and their culture fascinates me)
Philippines(Just because)
