The tournament starts in 23 days time, March 11th, and the Final is on 28th April in Barbados. See:

http://www.cricketworldcup.com/

(The USA is not involved, but Canada is!)

Difficult to predict a winner of course, as it is a knock-out tournament; I shall go with my heart and say England.:D

What do other JUBbers think?

First up, Kiwis. Bring it on!
Aussie have Scotland. Lol.

Looks like the Aussies are in real trouble even before they get to the ICC World Cup.

Hammered by the Kiwis today...

Hussey says they have the young players coming thru'...

Looks like Aussie ODI cricket is a complete shambles...

hmm i think i have to reiterate
AustraliaAustraliaAustraliaAustraliaAustralia

does losing a couple of matches mean we can be the underdogs :D

South Africa appear to be the biggest challenge

I dont think England or New Zealand have a chance * ducks for cover*

Well....it's almost kinda nice to have everyone writing the Aussies off...

Just because of an underpowered performance by a team without a significant number of our key players.

I'm not denying that there will likely be a time of "adjustment" while some of the "long standing" team members move on and newer blood finds it's place in the team. BUT (BIG but) there is an incredible depth in Aussie cricket - and we have had a succession of great captains (of which, Ponting is certainly one).

To all those crowing and writing off Australia because we have just lost a couple of One Day matches...I have one comment to make. Don't get cocky...we ain't finished yet. :D

also here are the players which will likely come into the Australian side in the WC
Ricky Ponting
Adam Gilchrist
Brett Lee
Andrew Symonds*
Symonds may not make it back but the others will

Kiwis to win the ICC World Cup? See:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/6375157.stm

Aussies can make all the excuses they want to, but 3 humiliating defeats v the Kiwis make these excuses laughable.

Warnie retired too early from Australia's ODI's. The Aussies have the batsmen, but they don't have the bowlers to win the World Cup.

And Warne will be missed even more in Test matches to come...

The Opening Ceremonies take place at 2215 GMT today at the Trelawny Stadium, near Montego Bay in Jamaica. (Google "Trelawny Stadium" for a "Well I never knew that." experiance.)

There will be much singing and dancing. Many suggestions for including appropriate songs have been made, such as:

"Stuck In The Middle With You."

"A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall "

"Bat Out Of Hell."

"Great Balls Of Fire."

"When An Old Cricketer Leaves The Crease." (Roy Harper)

"Bye Bye Baby."

Any more suggestions?;)

New Zealand should never be written off, they can destroy anyone on the day

I would agree but can they string enough of those good days together. Let's not forget that match against Sri Lanka 2 months ago.

Your right ramindra, but I pick them as my dark horse, it would be great for cricket worldwide if they could pull it off. Its about time the little guy won for a change!

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie - Oi, Oi, Oi.

Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm sick of hearing it too, but you'll hear it again at the end of the series.

Pakistan lost to West Indies today  ah well. I hope to make it the finals next month. ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 is being held in the HOTTEST PLACE on earth!!! THE WEST INDIES!!:D

The Oz/Scotland game is on tonight Oz time. I only have a radio and I will have to listen to it on that. I do not have a 40" LCD and I do not have Austar, and the way my problematical finances are, there is not much chance of me getting the big screen or the subscription TV.

Any suggestions as to how I might overcome this problem?

If I promise in my heart of hearts to support Essendon for a whole year, is there anyone who will send me money?

I gotta do something! And Thai boys do have a bit of a reputaion LOL.
