Which is more contagious- love or hatred?

It's much easier to hate than to love. Religions have been trying to get people to 'love' and have failed throughout history. (They've even created a lot of hatred themselves.)

However, look how easy it is for groups like the KKK or the Neo-Nazis to swell in numbers.

The thing about it, I suppose, is that you really need no reason whatsoever to hate someone. However, you have to look for reasons to love them.

Hating a common "enemy" makes people bond.

Think of something as simple as a sports team.

Lets see, politicians get elected through spreading love or hate; courting fear rather than intelligence

Religions get more money by raising groups to hate or encouraging understanding and tolerance of those groups

play to the insecurities - play to fear - count on hate

love is difficult. it requires trust and effort.

hate is easier and people are by and large lazy

hate has no personall benefit, and i think its really sad that people hurt each other so much for no good reason

This is a perfect answer. A funny thought came to mind when I opened this thread.

A long time ago I heard the adage that it takes something like 43 muscles to frown but only 17 muscles to smile, ergo, we should just smile because it's easier.

I wish this was true in the matter of love vs. hatred.

Many people love to hate and seem to derive much pleasure from it, so I would have to say it is hate...hope I'm not being cynical.

It's kinda strange really cos I heard a really good saying about love and hatred- that "they are twins born of the same passion."

With this in mind the feelings of love and hatred should be equal in power and similar in intensity but obviously they are heading in different directions if you know what I mean.

What about those times when you were a young boy meeting his first love? Didn't love infect you very easily?
