Ahh belamo, this was a treat.

I read the original article, and the theory of white privilege has aged like fine wine. Albeit, wine kept in the collapsed wing of my grand estate - half of «la cave» in ruins and filled with sewage. And no staff to clean it out since the government started making me pay the servants overtime and all these ridiculous safety regulations. When I was a child our staff were loyal! If they had to work 16 hours a day, evenings and weekends to clean out a wing of the wine cellar at the chateau that had collapsed and flooded with sewage, they could be counted on to do just that and then keep their distance! All of them standing downwind and bowing and curtseying as grand-père and grande-mère would leave for the city. Those days are long gone. I'd complain about my life but honestly I never go down to that part of the chateau anyway, and what do you expect from an 800 year old estate? So I've put on my best happy face, worked up my can-do attitude, and I've convinced the Département to pay for all the repairs. After all it's 800 years old! One must think of history!

I think many people fail to see the point behind "white privlege". It has nothing really to do with being scared of a black man with a gun, but not a white man. That's just plain racism, not privilege. It also has nothing to do with class. That poor whites face more difficulties than rich whites is obvious for reasons a six year old could understand. I'm not even going to touch on that comparison, it's just so ridiclous.

White privlege is not having your resume thrown in the trash just because your name sounds black, or because your address is from the ghetto part of town. That was the entire reason behind affirmitive action, and yes it did and still does happen.

White privilege is not still having to deal with the consequences of "white flight", which Wikipedia sums up the best.

White privilege is not having to make the choice, often at a age where you are too young to fully understand the consequences, of whether or not you want to be "ghetto", which is despised by soicety at large, but glamorized in the music everyone around you listens too.

AND white privelege is not having to deal with people of your race looking down on you for your choice in the matter.

From as far as I can tell, us whites have it pretty damn good; even when we're broke.
