Espadrilles - a term I haven't heard in a long time - I'm not a youngster, but I can't remember the precise definition of espadrilles, either. But the very name conjurs up a latin/carribean influene of a woven, light-weight, Summer shoe - I'm probably all wet.

Forgive my tired old Cabeza para la lingua imprecisa. And for my atrocious Spanglish. I grew up with sneakers long before they morphed into the multi-billion dollar industry of running/athletic/etc. "shoes" aka zapatos.

White Bucks and huaraches? buckskin - as in suede shoes?
Huaraches, como Espadrilles -- the terms are familiar, pero my tired old brain can't bring up the explicit definitions of what, exactly, they are.

In Spain we call "shoes" "zapatos", and "zapatillas deportivas" o "deportivas" o incluso "zapatillas" is what we use for "sneakers", but we don't mix both etymos and meanings: why not just talk of "footwear", "calzado"?

I wouldn't mind wearing white shoes, it's not a fashion issue for me.

I just wonder how some people keep them perfectly clean all the time, especially those Hip-Hop guys with their $200 Nikes.

All I need is to go out on a rainy day and I can throw them away afterwards. That's the reason I don't wear white shoes.

If I am wearing white linen trousers then you can expect to see me wearing white loafers at the same time.

I am not a fan of white suits unless they are more casual and in that case yes I would wear white shoes.

I still possess a pair of white jeans that I bought when I was 18 yrs old and I wear those with white shoes and a white shirt. But if I put on a tie and a black belt then black shoes become essential.
