Who cuts your hair?

I do. Its short enough now and I can do it more often this way.

:rainfro:

I went to the same local hairdresser for as long as I can remember... costs $10 and she always does a great job. ..|

I cut my own as well as the rest of my family's. When my hair's longer I usually have my gf do the back and I do the front.

Doesn't really matter to me who cuts my hair. Which ever barber has the empty chair when I walk into the shop.

I go to Supercuts, and let whomever's free first cut my hair. I've tried getting attached to hairdressers in fancy salons, but every time I get a great haircut, the hairdresser moves away right afterward. So I just get the standard Supercuts cut, it never goes too far awry and only costs $13.99.

I go to Fantastic Sam's (chain of hair salons). It's $16.00, they do a decent job and if you hit it right it's never too crowded.

:-)

Great Clips. My hair grows slow so before I need a haircut, they usually have sent me a coupon for $4.99. or was it $5.99? I don't remember. I haven't had my hair cut since June.

His name is 'Jimmy', and his salon is called 'Eduaz'

$45 for a cut, $120 for a cut and a highlight'lowlight.

I know it's expensive, but this guy cuts hair like no one I've ever seen.
He practically takes it strand by strand, and after it's done, you don't even need to use a brush....just run your fingers thru it and it falls into place.

It takes almost an hour just for a basic cut, and just watching him is
amazing....

He's booked 6 weeks in advance.

I used to go to an awesome place called Evolv. Men's grooming at its finest. All done in chrome and leather, widescreen tvs showing satellite-based sports channels, totally guy magazines everywhere (FHM, Car, Men's Health, GQ etc) ad they offer you beer, coffee or whisky while you get done.

In addition to a cut or cut/colour, Evolv also offered a full service shave with a cut-throat and hot towels. And they sold a full range of skincare stuff - larney Nickel and American Crew things for skin and hair.

And they were cheap! No more expensive for a cut than any other decent place, and dirt cheap for colour.

Unfortunately, Evolv went under - a sad day indeed. So now I am back to my old guy, Will, at his new spot near the beach. It's not too close to home, though, but since I have my hair long I don't have to go that often.

My hubbie and I buzz each other about once a month--great price! Just about $15 for the buzzer maybe once every other year and the few pennies for the electricity.

In my younger days, I went to hairstylists. Then as my hair started thinning, I went to the chains like Fantastic Sams and SuperCuts. I got butchered more times than I care to remember at those places.

So then I found a local barbershop and now I'm in heaven. The first time I went I just got the first guy who was available, and have stuck with him. It's great--he and I are both perfectionists. I don't have much hair left and I get it cut pretty short, but he still spends at least half an hour cutting it. I always look great afterwards. And he & I are both into biking & photography. He's older, probably mid-to-late 50's.

And I think he's gay.

Eh, myself. I do a better job with it.
I hate paying 30 bucks and walk out looking like an ass...;)

Better to save the 30 bucks and just wear an ass hat?

But what a lovley looking ass you are...um, I mean have!

And I think he's gay.

NO! A gay man cutting hair? NEVER!

When my hair was shorter I used to go to el-cheepo's and pay like 20 bucks. It doesn't take a genius to wield a pair of clippers and have it not look like you've been prepped for a lobotomy.

Now that it's longer I don't mind paying for a pro. I have this great lesbo chick (hot! hot!) with a cool panther tattoo who does my doo. Half the attraction is the beefy boi who is in charge of shampoo and scalp massage. Always has me pitching a tent in the giant cape/bib thing they make you wear! The fact that he repeatedly grazes your with his crotch makes it almost like paying for sex.

A warning about "salons": So, the place I go was recently promoting manicures for men...man-a-cures? Anyhoo, they were offering freebies while they cut your hair to generate interest. I walked out of the place with "Liberace hands". So not cool. Men with nails that glitter like a disco-ball just scream "poofter"...I prefer to whisper it.

Actually, surprising as it may seem, my hair guy Will co-owns his salon with his girlfriend Gia. All the other guys cutting there are gay though.

Yeah, the two other barbers are as straight as can be.

I know that typically "Beau the hairstylist" would be gay, but never thought most "Joe the barber" guys were gay.

I've spent a few bucks sometimes, but for the most part I always have to reshape what someone else messes up. So I've went to cutting it myself. It's always what I want and looks good. Sometimes I get a little carried away and it's alot shorter than I intended. But at least it's not lop sided. And I cut many other friends hair all the time. I still have a few that drive a good hour to come for the afternoon and have a few drinks while the cutting happens.

I go to a salon in Dupont Circle area. I have had to have some color added of late because I got a few grays in the temple but worse yet I started getting natural "auburn" (red) and some lighter colored browns mixing in. The salon has a couple of women and a couple guys that I let cut my hair and do the honors of trying to keep all the color the same. They laughed and said they would charge me to have the highlights like I was getting; I thought it made it look like I had gone crazy with colors!

Plus when they got a new pedicurist, I got a freebie!
