In a work setting, do you find yourself more comfortable around males or females? Furthermore, which do you prefer as a boss?

I think I'm torn between the two. As for coworkers, I think I prefer women but when it comes to a boss or manager, I liken more to men.

I've always felt more comfortable working with and for women. I've only once had a male boss for any length of time, and it was a bit of a disaster (aided and abetted by him being a complete shit); a few times in my temping career I found myself supervised by a man, and it worked out well if he was the sweet and shy type rather than the blustering or aggressive type...macho men always spark a feeling of contempt on my part in a work situation.

I think it's because I grew up surrounded by women...I understand women, I know how to act to make them like me, I get their energy and their logic. I get along with male coworkers, but I always become friends with my female coworkers.

Females, only because I've been raised by/around them all my life.

When I'm around guys I freeze up, get all shy and shit. I feel like a huge idiot when I'm around guys, let along guys I find attractive.

Although when it's their time of the month, :nono:.

I don't care as long as they are competent. And the same goes for higher ups.

As for incompetent coworkers, I prefer men. But I am biased.

at my previous job, I was the only male in a department full of females (with a female boss). my current job is the opposite -- there are like 2 females in my entire company.

working with females is more fun, but there's also more drama... my male coworkers are droll and boring and every time they spend half the afternoon talking about their BBQ's I want to bash my keyboard into their faces to get them to stfu, but there's also pretty much zero drama.

given the choice, female coworkers and a male boss... I hate the fact that when I come into work looking super awesome and put together wearing vintage designer clothes that I bought for a song, none of my male coworkers notice or care.

Oh they notice, and are taking note. But it would be against "code" to comment.

It doesn't matter to me. Never really thought about it.

Don't really care. There are competent and incompetent men and women. The similarity lies in that both incompetent men and women whines more than a parrot.

My ideal situation is working with a mixed group of equal numbers of men and women, and working for a woman boss. Groups of all women can get pretty catty, and groups of all men can turn into a boys' club (and not in the good way).

Having a mixture equals everything out. :)

I've always LOVED having women as coworkers or employees. Great fun.

But I've HATED most of the women I've had as supervisors.

Totally suck.

Horrible, unethical, lying, two-faced, emotional, back stabbing bitches. And those were the good ones. :-)

I find every time I have worked for a guy he has either been a complete dick or they try to let everyone get away with everything until it has to be dealt with.

I find every time I have worked for a woman she took pride in not knowing how to do the job. Because of that guys like me had to split up their work.

So to answer the question: I would prefer a guy for the most part, but if I had some authority in the situation I would prefer a woman. I figure at least that way I could deal with things before it gets real bad and I wouldn’t have to take the chance of having to deal with a dick.

If they do their job without being an ass and they DO their job, I’d have no preference.

I've actually had more female bosses than male. I've had two bosses ever that I didn't like - one female, one male. I can't say as I prefer one over the other.

I don't suppose I've really thought about it.

From what brief relationships I've had with co-workers, I think women are the better co-workers. I say so, because in my last job the male employees had a clearly defined 'boys club'. If you weren't a member of the club, then life could be pretty difficult in terms of getting help and so forth.

I made the mistake of using a launching board of some sexually explicit comments a co-worker made (when he told me to 'check out the tits' on a person working one of the booths) with intention to quit the job, but ended up having a half hour conversation with my boss which ended up with me not tendering my resignation.

Needless to say, my boss talked with the co-workers (which were more than just the one guy making remarks, and a few homophobic ones as well were made) and that pretty much guaranteed I was out of the 'boys club'.

Though all the women I worked with were pretty fun; talkative, helpful, and just fun people to be around.

As for bosses...

I've had my fair share of male and female bosses...And I think I have to agree with Jy_Star, just sign my cheque and let me be.

I gotta say overall I don't care if they are male or female for both co-workers or bosses. The only thing I say that can be annoying is with male co-workers its a lot more likely they will discuss their sex live's vs women who don't. It can be annoying. Work is a place of business, discuss where you put your dick on your own time.

I have to deal with a bunch of female employees, and they're great. . .but they INEVITABLY have to start drama and gossip about SOMETHING. They're not happy until they're causing shit.

Men seem better at just getting in there, working and going home. . .but i've known straight guys who act worse than women.

Women all the way around. Male bosses make me uneasy unless they're really cool or gay. I turn into that tormented Junior High kid who caught shit at home too. From my Dad. Not a pleasant regression.
