  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Who else is lovin the unemployed life?

I need someone to help me spend my cash

im expecting a ma-hu-sive comp pay out after a poorly fitted shelf hit me in the face at work and gave me a black eye resulting in me being less attractive for a few days

you think you qualify for the job?

I was forced to go to law school against my will.

I don't even WANT to be a lawyer.

Being an atty is fantastic! (*8*)

So, what do you unemployed folks do all day? I think I could dig it for a week, but after that, I'd be extremely bored and would have nothing to talk about. If I had a whole week of unemployment (assuming I had savings and another job lined up) I'd stay in bed for two whole days and sleep. Then, I'd mosey on over to the War Room and catch up on my reading. Then, I'd call all my buds and catch up on my gossip and I would apologize for never having time for them. After that, I'd park myself down in the recliner and would watch television. Yep, that sounds nice in my fantasy world.

Jason would need to be unemployed too for the week as well b/c I need someone to chat w/ and have sex w/. 24 hrs. of non-stop sex. Yep, that sounds nice.

Of course, I'd probably be bored to death three days in...

Seriously, I can't imagine facing the difficulties some of you are facing. Hang in there!

In January alone I read seven novels, that's only counting the ones I actually finished.
I wrote a novel and 9/10s of a second one.
I'm re-watching lots of TV shows that I have on DVD.
Spend far too much time on the Internet.
Treadmill.
Job Search.
Worry.
then when I go to sleep I count my blessings. ..|

For those that are looking for things to do with the extra time, have you considered possibly offering a little volunteer time for a charity that helps people that are worse off than you or a cause that is important to you. It may help keep your spirits up to know that you are doing what you can to make a difference in the World. And being around more people, you may be able to network more and hear about jobs available that you would not hear of otherwise. With the economy the way it is, i'm sure that the non-profits are having trouble with funding and need more volunteer help because of it. I'm not sugesting doing this all week long....maybe once a week or something like that.

Thanks Fabulous, I can only hope someone would extend me the same courtesy should my situation change.

What goes around comes around, maybe not today or tomorrow but one day someone will show you the same kindness you are showing your unemployed friends.
Hats off too you!
I've been out of work for sometime and it's always nice to have someone call you up for dinner and someone else get to do the cooking.

I'm currently job searching for when I graduate this May, and its not looking so hot right now.

Uggh, dammit.

The class of 2008 has to compete with the class of 2009 now?

Bring it on bitches, we've been at it longer than you!

Ooo, ooo, count me in. I loves the unemployed life; it's like a vacation, in the luxurious and exotic location of my bedroom. I have only been looking for a month, but I only have one month of rent left, so I'll see what happens. Hopefully, it changes for the better.

It's difficult to remain positive, especially when one has to face the reality that a job may not become available that soon. Oh well...
