Who has Vista?

The Windows Experience Index (WEI) currently maxs at 5.9 so 4.6 is good tHaTeViLmOnKeY and 3.3 is okay. You should be able to force the Aero with Glass interface with that score Mike.

Your overall score is based on your lower scores which sounds bad but reflects the reality that your PC is ultimately only as good as the worst part. I really wouldn't worry about the misreporting of the graphics memory cos it's boosting your score.

As for asking for permissions, yeah it's annoying, it's called User Account Control (UAC) and it's easy to switch off:

Thanks for that link, and I kept thinking Mac had a big advantage over us because of that damn thing asking my permission for any little action I did.

the aero interface was setup by default, i didn't have to do anything. or at least it looked like it was.

thanks for the link, i'll check it out next time i boot into Vista. Hopefully it will give you a happy medium between asking all the time and asking sometimes. ;)

the low 3.3 on my proc i guess is because it's a celeron. i was mistaken when i said i have a 2.6 proc, it's a 2.7  maybe that is why my star trek legacy only plays at like 14 fps. :(

I've seen it lock up quite badly I have to admit.

Now I do also admit that I was running my laptop 5 days non-stop and during those 5 days I was downloading the internet and watching movies and watching TV with beta drivers and writing in Word 2007 (I fucking hate it) and opening Acrobat files and playing music and viewing the code of web pages and viewing YouTube videos and viewing images and doing hard drive searches and installing software and...gawdammit it still shouldn't complain...should it? ;)

I think it was just the 5 days non-stop a computer needs to rest once in a while.

The only time my computer crashed due to installing that damn game install to talk to other players. But it gave me Norton Internet Security for about 50 more days.

I don't care for it at all. I brought a brand new HP laptop with 1gb ram, etc and it came preloaded. It crashed at least once a day, and I mean BSOD kind of crash. It was slow, bulky, and a real pain to work with. The interface is slick though.

I will go back to it after some stability updates and on a more powerful machine.

Okay mattad no offence meant but that post makes no sense.

You've got a brand new laptop that came with Vista? So it's only around a month old? And it's bluescreening? And you haven't brought it back?

I'm sorry but I don't believe you. You're speaking of a brand new laptop and you're using the past tense as if it's something from last year. What have you done with the laptop?

That just can't be blamed on Vista - it has to be useless hardware.

that's true it could be (seems likely) a hardware issue. i think that's totally possible so why don't ya believe him? If it's a hardware issue, it's unlikely something he has done to it isn't it? i mean if it's that new he's not likely upgraded something already that wasn't compatible right?

9.9 is not possible. You can edit the file where Vista keeps the score and make it say that manually - I already tried to 'fool' Vista doing that.

Be careful of what you download Brandon.

;)

What do you mean be careful of what I download? I'm not going to download Vista Ultimate. I already have Home Premium the actual copy of it and a key for myself so why try to install an illegal Windows Vista?

Yeah hardware issues can cause the machine to blue screen. *cough* Pinnacle *cough*
