It's that time of year where everyone is talking about the "game", and the Superbowl. Checking the score, and shoutting at the tv. Does anyone else find it boring?

I don't find the game boring. I find the talk boring.

I do enjoy watching a closely-matched football game. It doesn't have to be "the big game" - a good preseason one is fine. What I hate is the way ESPN (et al) have found a way to extend a three-hour athletic contest into a weeklong program. (A running joke of mine is that they get a gaggle of former players in suits to sit behind a desk explaining that Team A's victory is inevitable...until Team B wins, at which point they'll explain after the fact that Team B winning was in fact inevitable.) Every player is dissected into atoms - their previous play, their workout regiment, their diet, what's on their iPod. And what does this mean for your fantasy football team? And can they win under pressure? How are they in the red zone? The yellow zone? The mauve zone?

I just want to watch a football game. Yes, feel free to show me instant replays and highlights. But don't bother dissecting the game down. I want to watch these people play football, not hear you explain what that three-yard run meant to the future of the franchise. But it's getting harder to watch with all the factoids and analysis going on.

And I have no interest in chatting with my friends about the game other than "I'm rooting for (team)." During the game, yeah, "He blew that play" or "He's really kicking ass today". But leave your stat sheet at home, 'cause I ain't interested.

I don't watch sports at all, but being in the same room where a match is going on would be a lot easier for me to take if it weren't for the constant running commentaries. I guess that narration style is a left over from when radio was the only way to experience a game at home.

Yep I find it boring as well

I just hate sports, televised or otherwise.

Hockey = Boring, too much protective gear to even imagine anything
Soccer (also applies to running) = Look at those thighs and calves, oh my
Football = Trying to spot jockstrap lines
Baseball = Nice arms and cup-enhanced crotches to fall in love with
Basketball = Overly tall/lanky types aren't my thing
Wrestling = BOOYAH!
Swimming/diving = Well hello there.. did you buy your speedos two sizes too small on purpose?
Tennis = /snore

I don't actually watch the game, I hardly ever understand the rules and don't care about them anyway. I just look at the guys, isn't that what televised sports are for?

I DO.........I DO!....... :wave:

I just ignore it as much as possible. What I really hate though is how it's forced on me because the damn games always run overtime and interfere with regularly scheduled programs. I've had so many DVR recordings screwed up because a fucking football game caused the show to start late. :grrr: Now mind you, I don't think they should cut off the end of the game either but these freakin' football games have a history of doing this. What I want is for them to start the game earlier so that the fucking thing is over on time.

I don't enjoy watching a lot of sports, but I guess I never realized how many of y'all vehemently HATE sports. I mean, I'm not a basketball fan, but I actually went to a game last nite. It was fun, but it's not like I'm gonna be following the team now.

Oh, and:

GO MARK!!!!! (!)

lex, I think you are referring to the half time show and post game wrap..

commonly referred to at my house as the Has Been Rap.

Well I sure don't.

I love sports.
I love pregame and overtime.
I love sports plays.
I love scores.
I love analyzing things like draft picks and how well a coach is (or isn't) guiding their team.
I love finals.
I love superbowl parties.
I love arguing with dudes who like teams and players that I hate.
I love being a man.

I love sports, the tailgating, score updates, always looking forward to the top 25 every week, handicapping games, playoffs, feeling the passion when my beloved maroon and gold win, and the list goes on.

I also live for MARCH MADNESS!!!!, office pools, All the bowl games in December, always looking forward to the fall and college football then college hoops then college baseball ( College World Series anyone? ). And i could go on.

I don't watch that many games but I like to keep informed. I wear my gear on Saturdays and occasionally head to the local bar to catch a Sunday/Monday night game.

I don't have any interest in the games, and the sudden loud outbursts of barroom cheers (when I'm out) is irritating. But I do like to look at basketball players' bodies with the sound turned down.

I HATE watching sports on TV. They're alright in person, but I never watch them on a screen.
